They were, since "outsiders", relegated to 'poor' areas. Before disease transmission was understood well, they would be blamed for plagues, etc
They could loan money / charge interest. This made them become GOOD at the math of finance. They prospered and when others defaulted...the "jew" was hated
There are many reasons why they were "despised" . It is childish to say "they were hated, so they must have misbehaved"

Eh. The Seleucids owned it for a longer period of time than did any Jewish kings prior to the Roman invasion. Others owned it before then. The aftermath of the Maccabean Revolt was the only true Jewish rule over that area for any length of time, and that only lasted until the Roman takeover.

If that’s true then so be it. I’m not shooting for a particular narrative. Whatever is true is true. If Native Americans can’t vote, can’t move about freely, etc then that is wrong. I suspect they can but honestly I am not that familiar with it.
