Deporting illegal is always the best course of action. There is a reason why we vet who comes through our country. MY parents and their generation was LEGAL immigrants. They had to learn about american history , american sacrifice, and pretty much love the country for them to become its citizen.
Suddenly giving people American status who hate this country is STUPID and asine. You can hate all the country all you want if you are an american citizen but if you are an outsider if you hate the country so much then GTFO.

Freedom of religion without any context removes the meaning and intent. Immigration was limited to Europeans or otherwise white people at the time of the founding. So how many religions does that allow for?

The constitution was worded in a way which was unfortunately too vague, and now we are stuck with it.
But the founders absolutely meant it in reference of freedom of various denominations of Christianity and no single denomination being mandated by the state. Here’s a quote from a letter Thomas Jefferson sent to Benjamin Rush after the fact
“… the clause of the Constitution which, while it secured the freedom of the press, covered also the freedom of religion, had given to the clergy a very favorite hope of obtaining an establishment of a particular form of Christianity through the United States; and as every sect believes its own form the true one, every one perhaps hoped for his own, but especially the Episcopalians and Congregationalists. The returning good sense of our country threatens abortion to their hopes and they believe that any portion of power confided to me will be exerted in opposition to their schemes. And they believe rightly.”
