If you or anyone in your household identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color (BIPOC), including anyone with Abenaki or other First Nations heritage, all household members who are 16 years or older can sign up to get a vaccine!

If I was a white citizen of Vermont who had a loved one die due to Covid, I'd be extremely offended.

Is the tweet itself “racist?” Of course not. It is a simple statement of fact regarding availability of the vaccine.

Is the POLICY “racist,” in that ONLY PoC seem to qualify? That is an entirely different question.

That's not the point. It's the fact that the top government official in the State has pushed me and my family to the back of the line based solely on the color of my skin.

Isn’t vt like 95% white? It’s all pandering.

It is needlessly bigoted, and a segregationist. I don’t know why he would tweet such a message. I’m guessing by’ first nation ‘, he’s talking about American Indians?

Correct me if I’m wrong because I did not stay at a Holiday Inn express, but does the beer virus give a flying flip what color your skin is or what your heritage is?

Yep, and neither are pink, coral, beige, or tannish variants of white. Crayola soon to update their boxes of crayon colors. White is reserved for the coloring book you get to color with the real colors. Benjamin Moore is also updating their color wheel. None of the above will be on their palette to pick from either. White is invisible now.

Would have been more efficient of him to say "If you're not white, you can sign up for the vaccine!"

That's quite a hair splitting.

Considering racism/discrimination is giving preferential treatment to a group because of skin color, it is 100% racist. Same goes with black families in Oakland receiving money. If it’s wrong to say I’m going to give white people money over these families, it’s wrong to do it for black families. That’s not equality. Just because mistakes were made in history does not justify atonement through racism today.

No, this isn't a racist tweet or policy. Non-white communities have been disproportionately affected by covid-19. Increasing vaccine availability and outreach to those groups is sound policy---medically and ethically.
