I went to one of his campaign events- a friend of mine is a supporter and sponsored a evening with him- thought it would be good to get some one on one and see what he’s about- I do not know or have met Abraham, although one of my competitors is very high on him. So I figured I could make a good comparison.
I remarked to my business partner about 5 minutes into the deal “if this guy wins, I will immediately resign from our company and start my 2024 gubernatorial campaign”

Say what you want about him - he resonates with a helluva lot of people. The ride on Trump's coattails are free.

To the extent people are listening at this point, I can understand how people would at least think JBE sounds like he knows what he is talking about while the others do not
Four years ago JBE, a legislator at the time running for governor, was asked about raising taxes to fix the shortfall. He said he would not.
Guess what? He was elected, took the oath, said he was surprised at how bad it was, and then pushed through the largest tax increase in state.
People know JBE lied. They know he has no plan except to grow government and to keep the status quo.
Now we need his opponent’s go challenge his tax and spend policies and his doing nothing plans.

Mr Rispone said HE/business had been working “hard for years” at reforming education and it was going well... so well, that other states were wanting to know what we(Louisiana) was doing...

Most of our schools have trouble teaching to the state curriculum. The idea of letting them go off-script is horrifying to me.
I dont know how many times my kids are actually learning something but the teachers realize they aren't on the correct module and all of a sudden the boys have a test on something the next day that they have never seen before. This Is where my wife and I spend about 4 hours on google and try to figure out WHAT to teach. Then we find out on the next day that they delayed it or just gave them an open book test to get it out of the way. Either way it is just stupid

Oh, I absolutely think some things need to be adjusted.
For example, one of my kids spent every day for a week at Starbase, which is an awesome STEM program. However, even though the teacher didn't actually teach anything that week, they still had homework every night and tests on Friday. (They would get back from Starbase about 90 min before the end of day bell). Basically the kids, i.e. parents, had to teach themselves the material for that week, because they weren't allowed to get off schedule.
Then, iLEAP is over by end of April, and May is basically nothing but field trips and movies.
I would push iLEAP back to mid-May, give the kids and teachers a couple of more weeks to actually learn and teach.
But again, except for rare circumstances, I don't want public schools in this state doing their own thing. There needs to be a lot of standardization. Individual schools and districts have proven they can't handle anything else.

iLEAP
It has gotten beyond ridiculous how schools have pretty much turned the entire Spring half of the year into an LEAP test prep because that is how the schools are compared/measured.

I think we agree pretty much.
Your scenario is all too familiar!

Throwing a thousand dollars a year at each teacher isn’t doing anything. The truth is Edwards threw the teachers a bone, but he hasn’t done a thing to upset the teacher’s Union, or to reform education. He is giving education lip service.
The thousand dollar a year raise, “accomplished” in an election year, no less) was more of an insult to most of the teachers i know. I seriously doubt that gains him any votes.
And aside from the abortion bill, he’s not done jack shite else to improve this state in any area..raised taxes, expanded Medicaid which has been a financial disaster and will only get much worse, etc etc.

He gave them a thousand dollar raise only because he could put his wife on TV to tell us how he supports education and wants to help our kids.
It’s been almost four years now and that’s all he’s got as far as secondary education goes.
