Tomorrow I would expect to see a serious price rise in crude oil as the market becomes aware that the political strife in Iraq will cause the closure of some oil exports. Iraq has been shipping 4.5 million bbls a day this year compared to Russias 8.5 million bbls/ day. Iraq is a relatively large producer.

What unrest? There hasn't been shite about it on tv or the web.

Other than the radio I haven't heard a thing about it.

Rising gas prices suck but usually get blamed on the current resident of the White House.

US embassy in bagdad evacuated by helicopter today. 20 locals killed and 250 wounded. Kuwait told its citizens they had to evacuate. Green security zone breached.

White House spokes person sez there is no problem

Biden strategically drained the strategic oil reserve. FJB = massive ROI for his investors.

I have a gif that illustrates the incompetency of this administration and its press Secretary:

US bugged out of the Green Zone which coincided with Al-Sadr calling it a career

The people who supported him are now stirring up all kinds of shite.

And we still are by the definition. We are a net exporter of total petroleum products. We were not, even under President Trump, unless I’m missing something in the data, a net exporter of just crude oil.

We briefly lost the title of “net exporter of petroleum product” in 2021, but we are currently, as of May 2022 (that’s the latest data I could find) back to being a net exporter.

Why are we importing oil? We have to export a lot of it to be refined and then, turn around and re-import it as fuel.

quote:

Crude Oil Exports by Country
Saudi Arabia: US$161.7 billion (16.5% of exported crude oil)
Russia: $82 billion (8.3%)
Canada: $74 billion (7.5%)
Iraq: $72.1 billion (7.3%)
United Arab Emirates: $69.4 billion (7.1%)
United States: $41 billion (4.2%)
Norway: $40.2 billion (4.1%)
Kuwait: $36.3 billion (3.7%)
