The guy who posted 100k has absolutely no idea whether his number is right or not.
Can only quote sources available to anyone with the Internet:

ChatGPT

Core IRGC size (most widely accepted)
Around ~190,000 active personnel in the IRGC itself
This includes:

~150,000 ground forces

~20,000 naval ??????

~15,000 aerospace (missile) ??????

Alternative estimates

Some sources put it higher (200,000–250,000) depending on counting methods

Others give ~125,000–150,000 for narrower definitions (excluding some branches)

So I guess I was low but not as high as the %00k number

also, there’s been public gatherings since the war started (albeit to honor the ayatollah). people are not afraid of getting hit by a bomb; they are afraid of getting shot by the IRGC.

There have been a couple. Nobody is claiming that the regime doesn't have its supporters. They have also been caught out using old footage and claiming they're recent rallies by supporters and at least one of the legitimate rallies has been bombed by Israel.

Also, you totally missed my point. That being that the OP is asking citizens to overrun government buildings - because, ya know, that's where the government baddies are - while bombs are falling on those buildings.

Yes, they are afraid of being shot by the IRGC and with good reason. But they have also been told to wait to rise up. Again, for good reason.

I apologize for my overstatement you didn’t have no idea.

You were using the most widely accepted estimate.

I respect your and the estimated number

The rest of my post still applies.

Show some patience. I can’t remember off the top of my head the bombing lasted in Desert Storm lasted before the ground war started but I remember it being a pretty long. I think Shock and Awe lasted a pretty fair amount of time before the ground war started.

I know people are worried and nervous. Just be patient and let our military do its job. Iran gets weaker with every shot. They can’t replace what they lose either by shooting at our forces or our forces shooting at them. They cant replace men or materials when they are gone. I would think both our military and Israel will spend a couple of more weeks going after some of these hardline radicals that will not surrender ever before they turn it over to the people. The softer the resistance to the people the better chance they have to succeed when the do try to rise up.

You're not factoring their paramilitary groups such as the Basij and the Artesh. All told they have either on the ground currently or the ability to call up between 500-800,000 troops.

He only looked up the numbers for the IRGC, but that isn't all Iran is working with. The Basij are the ones that have been going door to door killing dissenters since this shite began.

Maybe, but I doubt Sean Hannity is telling you the truth.

What would be some possible examples of motivations or incentives why Hannity would be actively involved in such a operation? Serious question.

The Iranian government, obviously. I believe that their command structure has collapsed and they're all working on standing orders given before the attacks began, but I also believe that they'll have activated their reservists the moment we moved naval assets into the area. Hell, we know they did because we know the Basij have been killing civilians since this began. They probably activated their reservists during the mass protests.

The short of it is that your numbers are off. By quite a bit.

Be realistic. Millions of Iranians hate their own government. But there is a wide gulf between hating the oppressors and arming yourself to go out to kill people, especially when the people you have to kill are actually killers themselves.

Don’t expect too much from any general population.

Alrighty then. I'll leave the thread and you can have it. I obviously only know part of the story.

Well, they're clearly more intelligent than you. Imagine thinking the time to take to the streets is when they are being bombed to hell.

I wasn't trying to be a prick or anything. Just saying that they have more ground forces than that.

No problem. I included the forces you mentioned and did a new query and you are correct. Plus, I don't really know what the 90 million or whatever their population knows about the progress of the degradation of their military. Is the state run media still in control and also controls the narrative. Crazy country and don't know who knows what.
