Tim Scott next ... Nice guy, but needs to drop out before SC.

He is 100% dropping out before SC because he will endorse Trump and be Trump’s VP choice.

I give Trump a lot of credit. He and his team are master manipulators.

They sold that bill of goods and even smart people BELIEVE it. It’s so laughably transparently bullshite.

He’s not in anyone’s way and never was. The actual results are obvious. The swamp got deeper and he was the one that appointed most of them.

DeSantis will never garner enough of the America First/MAGA voters to win an election being timid.

He's not timid but he's not an idiot. He's going to pardon Trump. He's going to clean up the DOJ and hold people to account. Like I said Trump did break the law. Is it stupid and unfair? Is Biden 100x worse? Yes, but he was stupid and made a few stupid mistakes that are objectively against the law.

So he needs a pardon and to make the whole thing go away. The amazing thing is that Trump folks don't understand that Trump isn't going to win and if he did he will never be able to politically pardon himself even if he could find a way to do it legally. Even if he does that doesn't help him with the state charges in NY and soon to be in GA, the DeSantis argument though works and would put immense pressure to make the state charges also go away or to be dismissed on appeal. Oh and if he somehow manages to get through all of that his Presidency will be one big distraction of resolving that legal mess. He's fricked. If he is the nominee and loses he is super fricked.

Happy for someone to explain to me how that logic is wrong. Not to scream about how unfair it is or how Biden is bad or whatever. That's the chess board and those are the moves, you just have to look and see all the possible moves.

Rating the performances top to bottom

1) DeSantis
2) Trump (only because he was able to share his vote buying in Iowa which got applause. His performance was sub par)
3) Haley
4) Burgum
5) Ramaswamy
6) Scott
8) Suarez
9) Pence
10) Hutchinson
11) Hurd - have to put last because he got boo'd. But, he is a good public speaker.

... did not watch others

It basically was 'I paid for your vote already Iowa'

Damn. How awful did the rest do if they were worse than Trump?

That was the worst I’ve seen of Trump in a long time. I give him a lot of credit he knows how to work a crowd. And he was shite tonight.

Exactly right ... and the question how many Trumper supporters are there that have sense to make the switch to win vs the Always Trumpers who prove every night on here that they don't that much sense.

Just like he tried to buy a second term. Asked for more money than Pelosi wanted for "covid relief". Trillions.

He's just like a dem in many ways. Attempting to buy votes is just another example.

Tim Scott next - poor Tim had to follow DeSantis ... not fair to him, he should have followed Nikki. Sounded like a level two VP candidate. Ok, but probably shows he will not hold onto his recent slight move up. Nice guy, but needs to drop out before SC.

"How did Scott do? He seems likeable. And it would mitigate the "he's a racist" claim by the opposition. "

DeSantis is a far-right ideologue; scary. And Trump is unelectable-- too much egoism and criminality, plus he's a failed president.

The board was praising Vivek a couple days ago, now crickets. Who on the Republican bench looks promising?
