I remember when it was under a penny.
Now it’s up to 70 cents and should pass 1 dollar soon. Never thought a crypto invented by a twelve year old kid would go this far. Lol!

I heard some dude on the radio say the two people who whipped up dogecoin were just making some fun of Bitcoin....if that’s true it’s crazy it’s now one of the biggest speculative investments

Correct, it was created as a joke to be a meme coin. Social media has more crowd sourcing power than anyone really imagined and this is a great example. It got a worthless coin to $90 billion market cap.

That’s ^^^ kinda frightening to think there’s billions of dollars invested in a non tangible investment. That’s the kind of investment that can evaporate in a few days.

Do you know what market cap is? No different than stocks. $90 billion market cap is the size/value of all of the Dogecoins multiplied by the current Dogecoin price ($0.70). Just like Apple stock market cap is the price of all outstanding shares of stock times the price of each share of stock ($130) = ~$2.1 trillion market cap.

Isn't a difference between dogecoin and bitcoin that the former did not initially set a size/# limit whereas the latter did? Meaning that the dogecoin could do effectively a 'stock' split and devalue the outstanding 'shares?'

Yea bitcoin will only ever have 21 million coins. That cannot be changed.

Dogecoin currently has 128 billion coins and 14 million new coins are “printed” everyday. There is no supply cap so the amount of potential coins is unlimited

A thing of 40 tulip bulbs at Home Depot is $10 so Dogecoin can buy roughly 3 tulips. A bitcoin can buy roughly 232,000 tulips.
