The oddly karmic thing about all of this incident is that the doctor violating HIPAA was the only thing that led to the arrest of the rapist. Otherwise, the mother would’ve driven her daughter to an abortion to dispose of the evidence of the crime.

Is it legal in Indiana? If so she did the right thing if that's what the girl and her parents wanted. Is her age what makes this news I'm not getting it. It would be beyond cruel to force a 10 year old to give birth if she didn't want to.

I worked in a child psych ward. We had two girls who had babies at 11. So I'd say yep.
