Opinion piece about Afghanistan
It’s actually an incredibly well written piece about why military intervention is needed around the world.

Intervention is what allowed for Taliban to rise to power in the first place.

Yeah we should just allow people to get nuclear weapons and we should just allow atrocities to spread around the globe without even batting an eye because clearly international travel does not exist so these problems of course will never reach us.
Get your goddamn head out of the sand.

Here’s a snippet just for you because you clearly don’t live in the real fricking world.
“We might not want any of this to be true. We might prefer a different world, one where we can stay out of their way and they will stay out of ours. But that’s not the world that we live in. In the real world, the battle to defend liberal democracy is sometimes a real battle, a military battle, not merely an ideological battle. It cannot always be fought with language, arguments, conferences, or diplomacy, or by deploying human-rights organizations, UN declarations, and fierce EU statements of concern. Or rather, you can try to fight it that way, but you will lose.”

These middle east wars should show plain as day that we should never put troops on the ground again except for the occasional special force op. Bomb the frick out of the bad guys and get out. We would have saved Billions of dollars and 1000s of lives.

I agree with you. But I think supporting certain sides via proxy and, air support, as well as some low level special observations are absolutely needed because diplomacy does not always work

You realize that Iran is doing exactly this? And Obama and Uncle Joe are cheering them on.

Yes , I’m sure they are “cheering them on.” Do you hear yourself? Kookoo bird.

You do realize that is how we got here in the first place right?
We supported Saddam against Iran; We funded, trained and equipped Osama and the Afghans against the Russians; We actually assisted ISIS against Assad. We have a pretty poor track record of supporting the wrong people by proxy. The list of backing the wrong horse goes further back if you care to dig.

I knew who wrote it the second I clicked your thread, its sad you fall for such poor MIC propaganda, lol we can project military force around the world.....(very true to an extent)
But we cant secure the borders?
Your racist, colonialist opinions are also concerning. Who are you to judge other cultures?

Hi, Samantha Power. How are you?
I hate this justification for military intervention. It’s relatively new, historically speaking, and I think it’s insidious.

The premise of the article is we can secure and maintain empires abroad yet not our own nations border.
