You have more avenues than ever in human history to do that right now

That may be the case—I don’t disagree.
But people aren’t doing it.

Once upon a time, someone said something with which you disagreed: you talked about it; you reflected; you continued on with your life.

Today, someone says something with which you disagree: you become incensed; you attack his intelligence/faith/politics; you accuse him of any host of “-isms”; you make threats; you post about it on 4.5 social media platforms; you block him from speaking at engagements; you run to your online news/echo chambers for validation; you won’t listen to his side.

We’ve lost the civil means of disagreeing with each other.

Obviously “you” doesn’t refer to YOU, but to collective society.

I think any non hack should be a little concerned about the effort to quell dissent.
And I think any America should understand the concept of a private business entity controlling their own business how they see fit. You're sounding dangerously like those pining for regulation.

he problem with facebook news is that you typically see what news that other people share. Most of your "friends" have similar views. So you only see things that reaffirm you biases. So people are just more and more entrenched in their tribalist bubbles. This isn't a knock on either side, I just don't think that is a healthy way to consume news.

Not anymore. They censored that.

And it's not up to you to decide that... nor FB

except if your phone hardwire provider deems your your discourse 'not correct' then you're fine with it being denied a voice according to your post above because hey, companies can do whatever they want right?

its the only platform, chief. google and apple for all intents and purposes control 100% of it.

you ok with that? aren't y'all all like 'down with monopolies' unless the monopoly happens to be liberal.

what does that have to do with the only 2 hardware manufacturers in town shutting out apps with political opinions they don't agree with?

You realize there are many ways to access Facebook and Twitter, right?

Do you really not see the analogue?

Either you believe the owners of the means of communication can censor the communication or you don't. Which do you believe?

And I'll tie it into the Civil Rights Act for you... Interstate commerce and the Commerce Clause is to Apple and Google owning 99% of the platform as the Heart of Atlanta Motel discriminating against blacks is to Google/Apple censoring your conservative views.

Either you believe the free market will ultimately offer an alternative, or you believe there becomes a point of market saturation whereby the dominant forces can effectively shut out and neutralize all potential newcomers.
