I'm not the one who lied about Landry vetoing a bill
I did not lie. I was mistaken and admitted my error.
And considering he already broke his promise that he would sign any tort reform bill that reached his desk (he vetoed SB111), leaving the maybe in place is appropriate until he signs it or the 10 days from passage lapse without signature or veto.

I'm sorry, but I still dont see that in your title
Its OK to blame Landry for something he didnt do (as people surf the title threads), but not OK to accept blame for your false allegation in the title?

My response is actually much more simple. Why would client give “30-40%” to lawyers if initial offers and responses from insurance companies were fair and in good faith?
Why do so many of these same plaintiffs go to tax return preparation places that completely commit fraud to up the refund, and then charge absurd fees to get that refund “today” instead of 3 weeks from now?
Because they believe they will net out a higher check, net of fees.

The insurer of the tortfeasor is there because of the contact between them. Period.
Its existence has no bearing/relevance to: the fault of the parties or the damages suffered by the plaintiff, which is all that matters.

And we wonder why insurance rates are so high Ambulance chasers make lots of money
Plaintiffs used to get 100% of the windfall
Under JBE that dropped to 40% of the windfall.
Insurance rates stayed the same.
but you dropping it 10% more
will definitely fix the rates.
State Farm should benefit from my health insurance premiums too.

What happened with general damages during that time?
How about lifecare plans/future medicals?

having worked on both sides of the isle during that period I can tell you general damages are relatively the same as they were when i started doing this a decade ago.

marginally higher because procedures cost more than they did. Not a lot though.

Your definition of marginally must be very different than Merriam Websters
