Meanwhile, legislation is in the Louisiana House to force every public school to display those words. You know, because it’s just a bit of cultural pomp, and definitely not because they are trying to force their religion on people.

I understand the concern, because there is a trend towards taking references of God out of the public arena and in government places, but Christianity is very personal, and striking the phrase," In God We Trust" from our money or anywhere else should do nothing to affect your relationship with him.

The founders were believers...because we were founded on Christian principles..yet they were tolerant of other religious views and would not persecute others for their beliefs. However, the coy was a Christian country. Somewhere along the way, the country lost its bearings...which is why you see this debate. It's the same reason that transgender bathrooms are considered by lefties to be a "real" political issue.

Well, it only became the motto in 1956. Otherwise, I imagine it would have been under attack for centuries instead of mere decades.

I thought “in god we trust” and “one nation under god” wasn’t added until like the 50s?

Kind of like a lot of these civil war statues not being errrected until the 50’s during the height of the civil rights movement....

One of the first times the words were used as a national reference to faith was in Key's Star Spangled Banner in 1814.

This motto was established in 1956, hardly a "foundation issue."

The most important "founder" was a Deist.
