Yes, but he isn’t the guy to pull it off. You use the 82nd to prepare and hold enough land to stage from and as a show of force (3,000 troops). You also send in the 1st marine raider battalion to operate independently to set up a beachhead that you can easily support(3,000 troops). That gets your guys out and provides 2 hard points to stop the taliban and rally locals to. That buys you the time to ramp back up and reoccupy land. In 3 months you can have 80,000 troops on the ground and with Afghan military running joint ops you can retake the country and establish a viable government.

Two questions though:
is it worth it?
why bother?
