Would you support a bill that allows us to spring forward in March and leave the time there permanently?
The justifications for switching back and forth don’t seem worth it any longer. What say you?

I’d vote for JBE for another 8 years if he pulled that off. I’d vote for Hillary if it were controlled on the fed level. That’s how much I hate this fall/winter “real” time bullshite. I see sunlight stuck in traffic in the morning and weekends

My biggest fear is some genius pushing a bill to eliminate DST and we get stuck with year-round shite time. There’s no reason to do the switch and the rationale for why it started seems flimsy and certainly dated. Why can’t we all rally around fixing this. Hell it might even get libs to stop being so hate filled and heal the partisan split. Kind of like post 9/11 common enemy and common grounds. Standard time is more hated than The Taliban

So you would actually want to opt IN to daylight saving time permanently, not opt out off. I would be in favor of permanent DST.

It will be exactly the same way if you switch to DST, except your few minutes of winter sunlight will be in evening traffic, rather than morning.

How are people so stupid not to realize this?

I don't understand why this is screwed up so often.

I like switching. More daylight in the evening during spring and summer, and avoiding the overly late sunrise in winter.

It’s a good system for an urban society.

When I was a kid we had DST during one winter, it was in the early mid 1970s. I think it was done because of the energy crisis. It was dark when we were at the school bus stop in the morning and many had safety concerns. That may have been why they switched back to standard time the next year.

I know this will never happen but I would split the difference, adjust by 30 minutes and be done with it for ever.

I squander several hours of daylight in the morning from 6ish till 8 when I arrive at work. I'd much rather have one of those hours in the evening when I get home and can utilize it.

Florida voted overwhelmingly to do this two years ago. it never went into effect.

Congress has to approve any change in state-level observance of DST. If they never bring it up for a vote, then nothing changes.

It needs to be a national change. Just pick a date and time and stick with it. This nonsense of “spring forward/fall back” causes more problems than it ever solved.

Nope. I hate DST. It's so much nicer when it gets dark earlier in the evening.

This.

I don't mind the switch. I do enjoy DST in the spring.
