That would be counterproductive unless a million people climb a million bell towers.

Chump change to you?

no, that's a lot of money. of course you fail to mention that's spread over many years but no big deal
i clearly said this should be investigated and those found to be gaming the system, should be prosecuted
i'll still always vote to put tax dollars towards programs that help kids over most anything else. hhs suspending funds to all states in just stupid and punishing kids who have nothing to do with this

My ex runs a small daycare, she's allowed to have 20 kids. She receives $3400 a month from the state, with no other funding. The $3400 she gets is for food for the children, and that amount changes based on her monthly attendance records (she has an average of 18 children there per day, but has 20 enrolled, there's usually a couple of kids out due to being ill or the parents being off work that day).
I don't know how or why any state would fund beyond this except to lower the cost of daycare for your average worker, but I know the numbers that I've seen in these blue states goes way beyond just softening the cost.

I'm old enough to remember when Head Start came to be. I believe that laid the blueprint to find this line of funding and fraud.

What kids? These daycares are empty… their rosters filled with made up names.

The kids being punished are the blue state kids these programs were supposed to help.

even you should be able to recognize there's a difference between 9 billion in one year and nine billion since 2018. well check that, maybe not
reality is i'm agreeing with you that this should be investigated and prosecuted. but you're just here to be an arse, (((own the libs))) and make half wit comments you think are clever. best of luck with that

because the existing programs that depend on that money - whether your or i agree with it or if it's a good use of money or not - will suddenly be sol and thousands of kids depend on it. as usual, no contingency plan in place. kids will suffer. lots of parents rely on daycare to be able to work, the vast majority who use legit, hardworking daycare services

i have zero issues funding things that benefit kids. daycare, school lunches, etc

Here’s a novel idea, if you can’t afford kids then don’t have any fricking kids

as i've said previously, any time there's a pile of gov't money

There is no “pile of gov’t money”, this country is in debt and the amount is approaching $40 trillion

here we're discussing daycare

Correct

take a look at drug rehab facilities in florida and california, or nursing homes in most any state

Start a thread about it and you’ll probably get a discussion

there's an endless pile of gov't money. it's why people get involved with gov't programs

i mean i guess i could but it seemed more relevant to this discussion than its own thread. i asked a month or so ago on the help board about starting a clean & sober board but it didn't go anywhere and was even locked. closing in on 1,000 days myself

Don’t you agree that policy makers should be finding ways to actually reduce the cost of daycare, rather than merely shift the high cost from parents to taxpayers/govt? Subsidies do not address the underlying cost issue.

It would be better for the parents AND the govt if daycare costs were reduced to the point that parents could easily afford it. The govt could then use the money spent on daycare subsidies for other priorities, or reduce taxes

i agree with that 100%
ceasing funding with no warning just because donald trump has a score to settle is not accomplishing that goal and will hurt kids and families

Your responses to my first two points show that you either do not have critical thinking skills or you simply refuse to use them.

For many, many years people have been doing all of the fricking they’ve wanted to without it resulting in an unwanted child. It’s an extremely simple concept, and honestly it should be expected in civilized society.

The mythical concept I speak of is called “personal responsibility”.

Your response to my second point is too ignorant for me to bother with.

In any case, Happy New Year
