It's a pretty daft move by the DEMs to put Susan Rice in the VP slot, b/c I assume she's going to be completely tied to the Durham investigation. Now, they're insulated (to an extent) by claiming that after Trump was impeached for asking for foreign interference against Biden, he was emboldened once he wasn't removed and NOW he's PROSECUTING his political opponents!

Bidens safest pick is Rice, when compared to other options, I'm not sure why you'd call it daft, compared to someone like Tammy Duckworth, she far more apt with national security

Hell, that was a given when Biden started his campaign for the office. The Ukraine-Biden connection made that an automatic call.

Meh. Even if Rice is implicated by Durham he’s been on the job for quite some time now and she has only recently emerged as a legit VP threat.

Perhaps, but if they can show Rice was implicated withing the scope long before she decided to run then there shouldn't be any issues (but we all know the media will tote her water)

They're always trying to come up with an impeachment justification. And like you say, the Susan Rice appointment insulates them perhaps. But I think the main strategy here, aside from delaying prosecutions, is to FUBAR the entire election cycle by forcing mail-in ballots. They hope to have it so that the election is not settled by January 20th. If they can accomplish that, Pelosi is appointed POTUS and the congress elects the next President.
They would have to frick up the whole damn thing though. Because the current Congress can't flip either in this scenario.

well this is all secondary (during the election) behind "the indictments and report should be delayed until after the election"

I understand your point but Rice has a lot of negatives as well:
- never elected to public office
- foreign policy experience only. little or no domestic;
- foul-mouthed outbursts with lots of footage. In a strange election where the dims know they are effectively running the Veep as the candidate, this is a concern;
- proven liar and picks scabs of Benghazi; that narrative did not work for "at-this-point-what-difference-does-make" Hillary;
- name recognition: see is not a household name for most, and Kamala has only a slight edge on her here;
- she was neck-deep in Obamagate and on the record lying about; I understand the arguments that this fact actually insulates her from criticism (and prosecution). However, given the recent declasses of her emails, her testimony contradicting her public media claims, that she and Joe were both in on the efforts to frame Flynn, once the Chy-NAH Virus numbers start to dwindle and the economy starts to pick up as it is, Obamagate will take center stage again.
Accepting the stupidity of the American electorate and the hatred for FO-TEE-FIVE nonetheless, the Biden campaign realizes these are all liabilities with a Rice VP pick.
That is not to say that they will not pick her.

The new congress is sworn in "long" before the new president. Hopefully the new speaker will be a Republican.
