Yes, and I understand James Woods is saying do not vote Republican.

And I am saying that James Woods is wrong and stupid for saying this, and I told you why, and why you'd listen to an entertainer about politics—much less hold him out to be an authority on the subject— is beyond me.
What does John Bon Jovi say about it?
What about Boy George?

Amen.
Yet does Trump get a pass for reneging on a major campaign promise?

Well that was the OP.
MAGA candidates should be running under a different banner.

If you want to guarantee a Democratic victory in every race, sure.

i wish actors would just be actors and keep their politics to themselves

You’ve got to reconcile voting for candidates if the GOP is not your party

Or you could simply make the GOP your party by electing candidates that advanced the agenda you prefer. In the primaries.
And then they'd have a chance to win in an actual election.
Or you could care more about "being edgy" and running under your own banner and give every election to the left because you split the vote of the right.
Your choice. And you've made it clear which you prefer. So that's fine.
Hope you enjoy the likes of AOC and Kamala Harris. You'll be seeing a lot more of that if the consensus is the same as Wood's horrible advice here.

Ok got it. But by that rationale…your candidate would be Republicans In Name Only

No, you don't. Because then you say this:

your candidate would be Republicans In Name Only
If you "got it," you would understand that the primaries are the mechanism by which you make the candidate anything you want it to be.
Let's do it this way. What are the principles you want your candidates to follow?
Notice I didn't ask what positions you want your candidate to take with regard to specific issues. I asked for what principles you want them to follow.
In other words, what is a "real" Republican? Define it for me.

Primary for GOP is the Principle of Small govt.

Principle of Small govt.
That's it?
Just that one criteria?
If so, you better explain what that means.
Because tariffs are bigger government, not smaller government.
"No tax on tips" style government picking winners and losers is not smaller government, it's bigger government.
The federal spending that Trump embraces is bigger government, not smaller government.
The federal government buying into private businesses is HUGE government, literal socialism, not smaller government.
So what does small government mean to you?

What about you?
Maximum personal responsibility expected
Maximum freedom
Protecting Constitutional principles
Maintaining maximum degree of free trade
Preserving traditional Judaeo-Christian values
Fiscal responsibility
Strong military/maintaining American hegemony
Relating to people as individuals and not members of a group
There's probably more, but that's off the top of my head.

The Republicans may not be the solutions to your problems, but the Democrats are the cause of your problems. Going independent just strengthens the troublemakers and they get exactly what they want.
Posted on 3/7/26 at 8:44 am to Geekboy
I agree. Now, what’s the alternative? I sure as hell am not voting for a Democrat.
