I was born in Costa Rica but I grew up here. The newly elected president said no more masks and no more vaccines. I’m watching the news from Costa Rica with my mom and the people over there are pissed. They already hate the new president and the media is treating him like the left did with Trump. I just can’t comprehend how the people over there want to keep masks and vaccines mandated. If you want to get the vaccine and wear masks then do it but I’m very disappointed with Ticos for how they are acting. I thought they would be happy and celebrating.

Just like the news treats the Brazil president, and now the new Filipino president

Perhaps a small group who they chose to be on camera are pissed, while the other 95% are celebrating. Do you think the media would manipulate there like they do here?

I doubt the public hates him like the media wants you to believe

It’s easier to fool a person than to convince him he has been fooled.

Byrd, this disappointed me greatly. I’ve been somewhat casually keeping an eye on things there because I want to one day retire and move to Costa Rica.

Not sure that’s my plan anymore.

Honeymooned in Quepas for a week in 2015. Loved it, beautiful country but also saw the squalor. Probably not as bad as Nicaragua or Guatemala, but conditions that most Americans could not comprehend. One thing I noticed though that was EVERY shack for a house or Hogan as called in New Mexico, there was a satellite dish.

Some people just want to be led through the nose like cattle. Moreso in these socialist styled countries but it's making a run here in the US, too.

Because the news down there is pushing a false narrative?

You are better off going to Panama and it’s cheaper. Everybody with cable in Costa Rica has CNN from here. Only San Jose has Fox News in the whole country with the cable package. During the 2020 election, everytime the news was on, they had CNN in the background. That’s all I needed to know about the direction the country was going.

I get it, but I was responding to Byrds post.

I don’t live there. I’m not sure what the people believe.
Hell here it’s 50/50 and THATS disheartening enough.

Hopefully the Costa Ricans come to their senses and kill off their leftist journalists/propagandists.

I was in CR when Obama was elected the first time. I had vowed to not find out who won (although now I know that given the RINO candidatez it didn't really matter) while we were there. But the locals were celebrating like lunatics over Obama.

I then knew the world was fricked.

I go back and forth between the US and CR constantly. It is weird. I never get any heavy handed stuff but the eagerness for compliance is bizarre. Of course CR has also absolutely perfected the art of complete bureaucratic incompetence too, so maybe Ticos have just been worn down into compliance. Most of my friends there are staunch anti-Communist/ anti- vaccine professionals in San Jose and they are livid about all this. But go to the mall or somewhere and they are like sheep. The amount of people running in La Sabana Park with masks is Hilarious.

I always heard Costa Rica was a great place for fleeing ex-pats who were bailing when Obama got elected.

Sounds like not so much now.

I am not disappointed in Ticas at all, or the Colombian girls that can be found there.
