O I'm a good old rebel,
Now that's just what I am.
For this "fair land of freedom"
I do not care a damn.
I'm glad I fit against it,
I only wish we'd won,
And I don't want no pardon
For anything I done.
I hates the Constitution,
This great republic too,
I hates the Freedmans' Buro,
In uniforms of blue.
I hates the nasty eagle,
With all his braggs and fuss,
The lyin' thievin' Yankees,
I hates 'em wuss and wuss.
I hates the Yankees nation
And everything they do,
I hates the Declaration,
Of Independence, too.
I hates the glorious Union-
'Tis dripping with our blood-
I hates their striped banner,
I fit it all I could
I followed old mas' Robert
For four year near about,
Got wounded in three places
And starved at Point Lookout
I caught the rheumatism
A campin' in the snow,
But I killed a chance o'Yankees
I'd like to kill some mo'.
Three hundred thousand Yankees
Is still in Southern dust,
We got three hundred thousand
Before they conquered us.
They died of Southern fever
And Southern steel and shot,
I wish they was three million
Instead of what we got.

I can't take up my musket
And fight 'em now no more,
But I ain't going to love 'em,
Now that is sarten sure,
And I don't want no pardon
For what I was and am.
I won't be reconstructed,
And I don't care a damn.

If the South woulda won, we woulda had it made
I'd probably run for President of the Southern States
The day Elvis passed away would be our national holiday
If the South woulda won, we woulda had it made
I'd make my Supreme Court down in Texas
And we wouldn't have no killers getting off free
If they were proven guilty, then they would swing quickly
Instead of writing books and smiling on TV
We'd all learn Cajun cooking in Louisiana
And I'd put that capital back in Alabama
We'd put Florida on the right track, 'cause we'd take Miami back
And throw all them pushers in the slammer
Oh, if the South woulda won, we woulda had it made
I'd probably run for President of the Southern States
The day young Skynyrd died, we'd show our southern pride
If the South woulda won, we woulda had it made
"Play a little dixieland boys, ah yes"
I'd have all the whiskey made in Tennessee
And all the horses raised in those Kentucky hills
The national treasury would be in Tupelo, Mississippi
And I'd put Hank Williams picture on 100 dollar bills
I'd have all the cars made in the Carolinas
And I'd ban all the ones made in China
I'd have every girl child sent to Georgia to learn to smile
And talk with that Southern accent that drives men wild
I'd have all the fiddles made in Virginia
'Cause they sure can make 'em sound so fine
I'm going up on Wolverton Mountain and see ole Clifton Clowers
And have a sip of his good ole Arkansas wine
Hey, if the South woulda won, we'd a had it made
I'd probably run for President of the Southern States
When Patsy Cline passed away, that would be our national holiday
If the South woulda won, we'd a had it made, olay he hee hee
I said if the South woulda won, we woulda had it made
Might even be better off

America died at Appamattox. The corrupt, corporatist perversion that is the American empire can be traced back to the Yankee tyrants asserting that the Constitution is an irrevocable compact that is binding in perpetuity.

What is it with people like you, that you feel the need to attack anyone that mentions anything regarding to the Civil War and the Confederacy? Do you have aspbergers or something? If someone mentions WW2 and Nazi Germany do you compulsively post "Nazi's lost, get over it!". What is it about basic history of our country that upsets you so much?

You have a lot of stupid takes in multiple threads, but your inability to control yourself when someone mentions the Confederate South is truly, the strangest. Seek help!

I find the "South Will Rise Again" crap to be tedious. You lost. Get over it. Plus the song is pretty much crapping all over everything I believe in because someone has the sads about losing.

I also post what I believe and I'm indifferent to your reaction. Why would I care what you think? You're just some clown on a bulletin board. The purpose of a bulletin board is to discuss. Discussion gets really boring if everyone agrees and gets angry because someone disagrees.

Got it? Good.

Using force and violence to keep a people from exercising popular sovereignty and leaving a political union they no longer found was in their best interest? Your belief system is no different than the Chinese killing Hong Kong protesters because they want to be free from Beijing.

What do you believe? And how have those beliefs been upheld by the current government and the government since the war?

What did the Union do to abolish slavery in Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland and Delaware? Nothing. Why did the Union accept West Virginia as a state in 1863 if secession is wrong, considering West Virginia seceded from Virginia. The North didn't fight to end slavery, they fought to preserve a political union by the use of military force.

No where near slavery. What a maroon...

Just a puff of verbal smoke and roaches like you are flushed out for all to see. The Confederacy didn't lose. The Confederacy was defeated. All debts were paid in blood. So, get over yourself. You contributed nothing to that debate.

The song reflects the feelings of those who actively participated, something that can't be denied 165 years later.

BTW, history does repeat itself, time and time again.

You're saying force and violence are bad and popular sovereignty is good as well as the freedom of association. Romanticizing a system which perpetuated slavery is an odd position for a libertarian to take, but you're not the first I've seen do that. Just stop lecturing me about the evils of Lincoln if you're going to push a system dedicated to slavery, which the south was.

Lol. You can simultaneously recognize that slavery was a terrible and unjust system and see that the Union victory was the beginning of the centralization of American government and the end of the American republic. Obviously that kind of nuanced thinking is lost on you.
