Respectfully, the population of Chicago metro area is 9.5 million. You have to subtract out suburbs are in Wisconsin and Indiana, so that might be reduced down to something closer to 7.5 million in Chicago area that resides in Illinois.
Rural Illinois is full of Red squares on your map that have less than 10,000 people in them.

There are 9 million people in the Chicago area and about 3 million in the rest of the state. Do you know how math works?

That’s what happens when one large metro runs the state.
I worry Georgia is heading this way due to Atlanta

Make this make sense Mensa man? The 13th is the worst case of gerrymandering in US history.

Yes, areas where people actually live tend to lean blue. Land doesn't vote.

The entire country is like this in real life. Not internet and fake poll propaganda life

The Midwest is conservative with a few exceptions.

You are okay with the Illinois 13th district?

The Midwest is sparsely inhabited save for a few urban areas, which have pretty robust Democratic machines dating back to the early 20th century. Again, land doesn't vote.

What about the 13th in Illinois?
You going to keep parroting talking points?

No. Gerrymandering is idiotic, regardless of what party does it, as it doesn't reflect the will of the people, which is often much more moderate as a whole than those relatively 'safe' districts allow.

I agree. Its an arms race. One that Dems will lose if they keep pushing.

It's also likely to continue the 'urban vs rural' divide and possibly even make it more extreme than it exists in reality. There should be no safe districts for either party.

The entire country is this way. We’ve known this for a long time.

That map is hilarious. I don’t know why we put up with these people. Supreme Court needs to step up.

If the electors were delegates by district vs winner take all, Romney wins ‘12.

A better way to look: The 2024 vote for president, 54.37% D 43.47% R.
Popular vote 3,062,863 2,449,079. Not all the population is of voting age, or votes either.
That should mean of the 17 seats for IL, ~ 9~10 seats go D, and 7~8 R.
But it is 14/3.
