Shouldn’t the blame for illegal immigration be placed on the country of origin? Why are their people leaving?
Why I've been frustrated for years with Trump and the Repubs for not harping on the WHY so many Venezuelans made such a trek here.
They went hard far left Socialist over the last 25 yrs, and the American Democrats supported it. Including Obama.
What has happened there, and the current reaction to what has, is a clear example of what American Democrats here want. Attack that narrative like the plague.

How? How have Republicans been seeking to reverse it? Donald Trump is on a deportation rampage but what other Republicans have done anything?
Republicans talk tough on illegal immigration but refuse to pass the one policy that would actually stop it: mandatory E-Verify with real employer penalties. They never do it because their donors rely on cheap undocumented labor.
Republicans will, however, spend our money on walls.

Corporations have spent decades creating the conditions that make migrant labor both necessary and profitable. Industries from agriculture to construction to hospitality rely on a workforce that is underpaid, unprotected, and easily exploited. One could argue that illegal immigration is a function of capitalism.
Sorry, capitalism is an economic philosophy of allowing the open manufacture and trade of it's citizens. Our system has been so corrupted that it barely resembles capitalism.
Capitalism thrives when laws are followed. Not when massive amounts of humans are trafficked and paid so little while fraudulently obtaining government benefits. All the while our country is going bankrupt.

It also thrives in a high trust culture/society.
When you inject millions of people who don't speak your language, who have entirely different set of values and who seemed to prefer to establish their own system rather than working in your system, you will go to a low trust culture.

For the democrats, it's all about assistance rendered for future voters.
