And yes, I have been to Savannah. It has the black poverty and crime of New Orleans as well as the heat and humidity but little in the way of great dining, festivals, national events, pro sports, music, and other positive attributes of NOLA that help offset her negatives.

Since you are not averse to hypothetical "if"s-
If on that day Zarate had saved Steinle from drowning, would you be saying "Kate Steinle is only alive because the immigration law was not followed."? And would you then hold that up as an argument against enforcement of immigration law? Would you be arguing that enforcement of immigration law results in the deaths of Americans?
I think that, given the sheer numbers, it is highly likely that an illegal who was released and not turned over to ICE has saved the life of a U.S. citizen subsequent to being released but not deported. Or provided a tip that led to the arrest of a murder suspect. Or stopped the abduction of a child.
If a police officer decides not to arrest someone for having a joint- someone with no history of violence- and then later that night the individual murders 3 people, is it fair to the officer to say "Had the officer arrested the man the murders would NOT have occurred! Their blood is on HIS hands!". And would it be fair to fire off that "Anyone who does not endorse zero tolerance for marijuana possession has BLOOD on their hands and are some sick, shameful, disgusting people!!"? You'd sound pretty silly saying that. Just as you do now.

I see that you dont understand how ICE works.
When X County releases an inmate if the inmate has an immigration hold ICE has 48 hours to pick up the inmate.
If ICE has not picked up the inmate the County has to release them.
I have a buddy that works for ICE and right now they are not paying overtime. So good luck on them picking everyone up with a hold
