Id be down if only I could call dibs on getting Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles down from Canada to live in the flat.
At least at the point I would be entertained and trashy at the same time.

I guess their sidewalks are all filled. I have never seen more 20-something white homeless people in my

Homeless people are homeless for a reason. I wouldn't want them in my backyard shooting heroin or doing drugs of any kind.

To even think this makes sense on any level is nuts.
I'm not saying that this is going to, but this is why localized government is a good idea. If it doesn't work, then other locations know that. If it does work, then they can try it out, make variations etc.
It's essentially giving government an opportunity to have some scientific study. It's a lot harder when the federal government puts something into place.

Can you give an example?
Do you own rental property. If so, have you ever rented to a person on government assistance? Wheny the failed to pay and refused to move out, what happened?

How is this an example of a localized policy being forced everywhere? Maybe I'm missing something.!

I find it admirable to want to help people. I know a family who had a child decide to live in the streets. The dad was always hard on himself because he could not understand why he CHOOSE to live that way.
but the problem is that you are dealing with people who by in large don't want help. They would rather live in boxes and under bridges than live a productive life in society. Next time you see someone standing by an overpass begging for money, ask yourself what would it take for you to leave your current life and live that way. Simply building residences in people's backyards is not going to solve the issue. Anyone who decides to let someone with potential drug, alcohol or mental problems live in their backyard is asking for trouble.

Portland has a huge mess...been a problem for a long time...huge tent cities under bridges.
Portland will pay homeless to get out and give them $500 and a bus ticket to S.F. For a hipster city they are really image conscious and hate the homeless situation.
S.F. doesn't give a frick about image. They revel in it.

I wonder what this would do to property values?
