I seriously don't know anything about the guy and the other night for debate was the only time I've seen him speak other than a commercial. So I wikied him:

quote:
Well before entering politics, he had been a Democrat. He supported Michael Dukakis for President in 1988 and donated money to the 1992 presidential campaign of Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas.[8][9] He also donated to Louisiana Democrats Kathleen Blanco for the 2003 gubernatorial election and Mary Landrieu for her 2002 Senate campaign.

Wow! Even I didn't support Dukakis and Tsongas

Watch out BHP and USMC are going to declare you have taken that out of context!!

Once they make such a declaration it is fact on TD.

Prove it.

And point out exactly where Cassidy's record does not reflect a stance in line with the modern republican agenda that the majority of Louisiana voters back.

Prove what??? That quote is a quote. You prove it was out of context.

Hmmmmm.....

BTW, I was once much more "liberal" than I am now. What I LIKE about him is his socially more liberal position than many Republicans.

Although, he is a devout Christian (he's talked to me about my errors there ). He is socially less liberal than me. More than the "Party".

I'd say he is much more Libertarian than 'Captital C Conservative'.

He is fiscally conservative and has determined that the country can't spend it way along "good intentions" and keep burdening taxpayers, corporations, and citizens with more regulation and taxes, less freedom.

I never said he WAS "CONSERVATIVE". I said he does NOT have 'contempt' for the Conservatives.

What does a candidate that declares conservatives will have to hold their nose and vote him feel about conservatives BHP??

(He darn sure is not libertarian. I think he may very well be as one poster said a "modern republican"--all the more reason to ignore him and vote for McMorris and only vote for Cassidy if he makes the runoff and control of the Senate is in question IMHO. The man supported KBB--give me a break.)

Stop being a little girl.

I've never held myself out as an authority on ANYTHING on this board.

You made an erroneous statement of an out of context statement.

I have spoken directly, and at length, with the man and did so BEFORE he entered politics.

I know there is no "contempt" and that statement is out of context.

I, also, know he is more socially liberal than the red meat conservatives. That does NOT equal contempt in any way.

I have great friendships with VERY VERY liberal folks as well as VERY VERY Conservative folks. That I am different does not mean I have contempt for them. To the contrary, I love and respect them as much FOR their difference in views as anything else.

He didn't.

You are being purposely obtuse and idiotic on that issue.

You were simply wrong in interpretation. Let it go. It is not a weakness to admit "wow. I kinda blew that one"

Which one? the quote?? or the one about contempt?

The USMC guy declared that the quote was out of context and then you said I had been proven to have taken that out of context as if you and USMC are editorial experts.

Yes.

And, therefore, your inference that it meant 'contempt' is incorrect.

He absolutely was speaking about republicans in this race were going to vote no matter WHO was running in order to defeat Mary. he said, 'Rs will (turn out) and vote. They'll hold their nose and do so if needed'

It was a generic 'THEY WILL VOTE' statement.

It is as if I were held at gunpoint and told "Do you want us to gang rape your wife and murder you both or do you want to suck one dick and you both live?"

BHP says "i want to suck a dick"

And YOU, Mr. grammar school comprehension guy, reports :

"BHP says he wants to suck a dick"

You are quoting me correctly. But, missing vital context

He was referring to conservatives BHP and he said this exactly--

quote:

“They’re going to vote, they’ll hold their nose, they will do whatever,” he said of his state’s divided Republicans. “They will vote. We will win.”

He is basically saying "republicans are going to turn whether I am conservative enough or not. I am not going to cater to them. I am simply taking them for granted."

Surely you will not disagree with me on that.

The full context:

quote:

To hear him tell it, almost any Republican could beat Landrieu; he just happens to be the guy that will do it.
“They’re going to vote, they’ll hold their nose, they will do whatever,” he said of his state’s divided Republicans. “They will vote. We will win.”

He was specifically saying the R will coalesce AGAINST Mary...No matter WHO is the candidate. It was a comment about the uniting of disparate R voters into one block in opposition to Mary

It just happens that it is him.

Rs will need every vote they can get. A 51/49 or 52/48 makeup only allows one or two defections from the senate rinos. Adding one more rino slightly increases the odds

U know what side Mary is going to vote on.
