If you are suddenly appointed POTUS: What do you do about Russia?

My visceral lizard brain reaction is to swing America's dick around, get Russia removed from influencing NATO, and add Ukraine. Prepare for all out war. If NATO can't happen then disband NATO and start a new NATO replacement.
My less dumb brain reaction is that we can't really do much about it other than sanctions because we shouldn't be the world police and we don't need Americans to die over stuff happening abroad. Europeans have had a long time to build up their militaries but they always depend on us then complain about everything we do.
It's an impossible situation.

Germany has up to 50% of their gas resources tied up to Russia. Russia can end them by just putting a cap on the border.

Yeah, i don't know what the hell I was typing there. I was trying to say get Russia removed from having say over NATO membership. They are the ONLY reason Ukraine is not a member and now that is allegedly the reason NATO isn't helping.

We have something they want. We can say. We promise Ukraine will never be part of NATO.
We can also say - congratulations Ukraine - you are the bridge btwn East and West. That can be a power position / cat bird seat broker of peace btwn Russia and NATO.

Got dammit. I can't write words good. Yes, obviously Russia isn't in NATO since they are mad at the prospect of NATO expanding to more of their neighbors. We shouldn't have let Russia have a say in that because it obviously backfired.

Start drilling for oil & gas everywhere. Start fracking everywhere. Become the world's largest energy supplier. Get the entire Western world to agree to not buy any energy from Russia rendering them completely f*cking useless.

Immediately remove all the EO’s and burdens potato put on the oil and gas industry and drive the price below $50 a barrel.
Tell the EU either you buy American natural gas or we are out of NATO and they are one their own with Russia.
Also, put troops on our Southern border and deport all the illegal aliens potato allowed in the country.

I start working on America first.
Defend our borders, clean out illeagals, clean up our election systems, abolish the income tax, fire the IRS, FBI, and CIA. Abolish trannies from the military, abolish affirmative action, abolish public sector unions, reestablish energy independence, restore our nuclear weapons stockpile.
Thats just a start.
