Did I mention that in the OP I said some here would be purposely obtuse about this issue? Thanks for proving my point.
Yep. They're just completely ignoring the fact you're calling out people that support the act of censoring conservative viewpoints and acting like you said twitter violates the 1A by doing this. So predictable.

If they keep banning those on the right because they disagree with them, sooner or later a new platform will emerge. People will quickly lose interest in an echo chamber.
It's been tried. It was fought by all the big tech companies vigorously so it never really had a shot.

The issue comes when we know and have proven that all the big social media companies are actively colluding with one another on what to silence/censor and what to allow under the guise of hate speech, fake news, and "Russians".
What do you think is wrong with that and what should be done about it?

I already said I don't have the answer. If I did, I wouldn't be posting on TD.

That's because there really isn't an answer, at least not an answer that we should ever allow.
Remember that Slippery Slope? This is how it actually starts, not with Twitter's business decisions.

You should be able to answer the first part of my question, though.

How is it wrong to say the people that support twitter censoring him would no doubt support the government doing the same?
maybe because the counter argument is that they are ok with this because Twitter is a private company and not the federal government

The right championed corporatism for decades and surprise surprise, we're now in an America where they have too much power.
You have nobody to blame but yourselves. And some of you still oppose NET NEUTRALITY of all things

He said people that are OK with this censorship (ie private entities making their own rules) are a danger to the 1st amendment
It's dumb
The argument that this is Facebook expressing their 1st amendment rights would be stronger than that

Yea I agree and this is what is frustrating about the situation.

Which is why I said start a competitor or suck it up. Those really are your options. Hopefully those remain the options, too.

start a competitor
Again, any threat is fought vigorously. De-listed from searches, suppressed, etc or bought out.
In any just about any other industry a true competitor could possibly emerge but it's not as simple in this case.
It's not as simple as you are making it out to be and you know that.

This. I love how thats the only answer they have

This is simply an extension of what we already discussed. I don't want the government telling those businesses how to operate, either.

I never said or even implied that it would be simple. The difficulty of it should not be a deterrent if it's as serious as some of you believe.

Im specifically talking about the people that support the actual act of censoring views they dont like. I support private companies' rights to do business how they want. I dont support the actual practice of censoring any views but i recognize as a private company they have that right. Im saying if you actually support the suppresion of viewpoints and not just their right to do it then you would most likely also support the government suppressing views that you dont like. And to be clear, im not talking specifically about you. I have no clue if you support the act of censorship.

All you have provided in this thread is. Start your own twitter or there is no answer

Would the response I see daily posted here of “I don’t really care but it should make sky screams and tears really melts so I support it” be annoying in this scenario?

OK/celebrating. I took that to mean supporting the act of censorship and not just their right to do it. Obviously i support their right to do it but i dont agree with the practice.
