The difference here is in the other incidents, both had committed a felonious crime. As far as we can ascertain, Nichols had done nothing wrong.

Again, it appears the only criminal element in this entire incident was the police themselves. Indeed, it increasingly appears Nichols was a targeted victim of violent thugs.
