He would immediately gain a huge market share.

What business wouldn’t boom?

If he did any of that, my thought is that he would have a hell of an antitrust case waiting to happen.

If a Trump business is trying to perform normal duties and would be shut out of infrastructure used by other businesses in the same field for no reason other than ownership, it would seem like an easy case to win and get treble damages.

There are still limits to this. If he ends up getting an airline that would want to expand to service at various airports, it’s possible for the airports to charge an exorbitant amount for him to have the gates.

This happened in some Northwest Airlines airports like Detroit to Southwest, which were some of the few markets they ever walked away from.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeit! That was a nice airline too. Two Ukrainian hookers, shrimps and a bottle of Hennessy for gold star fliers on trips 5 more more hours. We use to call the Baltimore to LA flight the “soul train”

You can't just do this because you want to. There's a lot of regulation that Trump would never get past. Not only because of political enemies, but because of his sorted business past.

Which is pretty funny considering the... interesting banking practices of one of Obama’s buddies in Chicago, Giannoulias, whose family owned and operated Broadway Bank until its closure in 2010.

Alex Giannoulias’ failed Senate bid is believed tied to the bank shutting down later that year. That bank was also informally known as the inspiration for the mob bank in The Dark Knight that was subject to the Joker gang’s robbery.

He wouldn't open his own bank because his scam is based on partially defaulting on his loans. Half of his success is based on operating in Chapter 11.

There was a ton of crazy shite happening in that sector back then. We can thank Clinton and Bush for the hyped up regulation that was imposed after the crash.

Is Obama planning on opening a bank?

The OP was talking about Trump. Stay focused.

It's not like the NFL? You can't just open the USFL Savings & Loan when they tell you to go away?

I think he could set up a media network. Maybe a youtube channel if they'll have him.

My point being that a LOT of politically connected people, or candidates, have done shady shite yet were allowed to continue in the banking industry.

A would be willing to bet most of these banks are gonna be calling these loans as well. They want to get this toxic guy as far enough away from them as possible.

Definitely would be a difficult process. If you get more than 10% ownership you have to file with regulatory agencies—I would assume the Fed— as a Holding Company. I would imagine the Fed must approve.

Starting a new bank requires regulatory approval primarily because of the FDIC insurance. The regulators have say on approving founders.
