Don't be fricking stupid. In today globalism age, if you cut of Cali and the west coast, they will fall into the hand of CHINA. China would then get a fricking foothold on American soil and have the RIGHT to be there. Since we are also the one with the milatary, the Chinese will provide it for them.
Congratulation dumbass, you just played yourself and let enemy foreign invaders with actual military's on American soil . Not to mention the choke hold they would have on our economy by virtue of us having a smaller country size, they will pair up with the world to starve us and not trade.
Congrats again, you just fricked us on trade and slowly starve the America you want to preserved. States would then start to sell themselves to our Cali west coast neighbors for that money and they'd be second class citizen.
The union is now more important than ever to preserved in the face of the enemies we have at our gates. In the 1860, I can see it legit breaking with no problem. Now a days, your neighbors won't be follow American but instead Chinese and russians.
I would rather us have a civil war among the people with the Police/Military's staying out of it and when the dust settle go back to business as usual then let actual fricking states break off.

These are always such deeply stupid takes. None of the cleavages in the US are any of the cleavages that typically lead to countries splitting apart. Not only that, Balkanization rarely if ever works, as it never worked in the Balkans. Why would it work here?

The most successful republics in history only have a shelf life averaging about 250 years. USA is on year 244, and how they are often destroyed is playing itself out again in this country. I think it's time we stop trying to deny history and what we see with out own eyes and admit that this republic needs to be split up before we end up in a war "trying to save it."

Each new country will need coastline on both coasts and spit access to the Gulf of Mexico.
It can be divided up that way, but not by maintaining the borders of existing states and letting blue states secede or something like that.

I'm hoping for a Trump victory that triggers the Leftist states to leave the Union. I'd say we should let them depart peacefully and establish that utopia they want while the rest of us sit back and enjoy every Fourth of July with food on the grill, beer in hand, fireworks, and FREEDOM! Meanwhile, they'll be printing out more maps of urban areas to warn people where they need to watch out for stepping in human excrement in the streets.

Secession by state would not work. The metro areas are almost all Blue. DFW, HOuston, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Nashville, ATL, etc may be in Red states, but they are Blue cities.

Balkanization has always worked in mankind's history. Netherlands became an economic powerhouse after breaking away from Spain. Italy was better off as a series of kingdoms, ditto Germany. India is a mess today b/c it's an artificial construct. Don't fight the future.
