so what do you do with someone like me.....worked for 35 years.....I don't know how much I've paid in over time, and starting out wasn't making much...but over the last 15-20 years been six figures......so we should just abandon the program and stick it to people that have paid in hundreds of thousands of dollars? Oh, btw, we aren't getting our money back....that would be glorious...i'd take mine back right now with no interest...but that ain't happening.

You paid taxes for a program like any other program.
It's the same as USAID. You also paid lots of taxes for USAID all of those years. Are you going to use the same arguments against cutting USAID?
I'm not.
And nobody is saying to "abandon" the program. Outlays will need to be adjusted/decreased, not reduced to 0.

I’m pretty sure SS is non discretionary spending, which means the executive branch cannot cut or add to it anyway other than to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse. Which of course it is mandated to do by congress.
