The “meek shall inherit the earth”, “let’s vote for the black guy because we’re ashamed of our past”, “Jesus wouldn’t like Trump” folks aren’t our allies.

I get that the above aren’t the norm down here, but up north, out west, they are. Their pastors, priest, lay people, are telling them it’s best not to vote than to vote for that evil Trump.

I we need people that will step up and speak out. Not hide behind their masks and say they’ll pray for “god’s will be done”.

But again, I get it, the evangelical is not my enemy. I just hope he’s the enemy of my enemy and not a closet enabler.

Yeah I have a big problem with this kind of thinking. That is like you are witnessing a thug choking the life out of a small child. You have a loaded gun in your hand. But you let it happen because well, "It must be God's plan since it is happening. It must just be their time to die." Nope. I am blowing that dude away.

Assuming they don’t run away out of fear, I believe the average evangelical will die trying to help someone in this scenario. I’ve seen faith give people courage to face their deaths (good and bad) on three continents. For some reason, in my experience, the “church” itself is less willing to take a forceful stand for what is right. Individuals aren’t the issue though...they’ll fight. It’s the big issues that take organized contribution that they’ll try to combat with prayer vs taking to the streets.

I’ve witnessed dozens of guys be baptized in an improvised pool on the eve of battle. I loved seeing it...those guys were ready to take on anything the next day.

No. Things have worsened at breakneck speed since 2009-2010. I don't think past election results are an indicator of future anything. The "media" - both traditional and web -have gone full-on China/Pravda. We have crossed a number of bad thresholds since 2010, and it's difficult to envision going back to the way it was even twelve years ago.

That's because y'all believed the lie that we are a country ruled by laws and not people. It's never been true and is no different than any other generations experience throughout history.

Are you suggesting that they will somehow force Puerto Rico (which has repeatedly voted against statehood) into becoming a State, against its will?

What the frick are you talking about? Polls show a majority of Puerto Ricans support statehood. The 2017 referendum passed with 97% support although it was admittedly boycotted by the anti-statehood groups and turnout was very low.

Regardless, Puerto Rico doesn't have any decision on the matter as Congress has sole discretion on admittance of new states into the Union and under what conditions they are admitted.

You missed out on that Constitutional law class?

Edit: At least you realized your frickup right away.

Congress has the power. But has any territory ever been admitted to statehood without requesting it? Has any territory ever been forced into statehood against its will?

PR has had multiple referendums, and it has chosen to retain its current status as a Commonwealth. 2012 was worded strangely and no one really knows WHAT it meant. After the hurricane, it is certainly possible that public opinion has changed, I suppose. They are voting again this November, and the result MAY be different.

Not force, bribe..

Offer a new power grid, some better infrastructure, roads, maybe get the wild monkeys in hill country under control, throw a few parades, build a some baseball diamonds in La Perla, and toss in a few top-shelf coquito recipes.

How dumb is their population? That would crush Puerto Rico's economy if they became a state where taxpayers have to pay income taxes in a currency that is peaking. Who would move there?

So we're pretending Dems care about what people want when it gets in the way of them taking absolute power?

Pretty stupid, as I agree with you that statehood would be financially disastrous for both PR, AND the US as a whole.

If you can milk at the tit, yet still be your own man(country)..why not both?

PR and Statehood debate has been ongoing for longer than our lives..

They don't want it..but they don't want to survive on their own either.

Exactly. The only way that happens is in a scenario where Ds control the legislature and PR is an economic crisis at the same time.

For the board JDs, is there much history of 10th amendment litigation where states have tried to limit federal government intrusion?

If this nation legitimately votes the house senate and prez to the current Democrats......we are committing national suicide.

Complete self imposed dismantling of the USA.

Man I want to shake some sense into people. They dont realize what they are doing.

100% agree with your points here.

It's frightening that an evil spirit of self-righteousness has apparently infested a fairly large number of Christians who deplore-not just President Trump-but their Christian brothers and sisters as well-in some cases leaving their local churches because they refuse to outright condemn him and endorse Biden.

These people are lifting themselves up into a rarefied spiritual Christianity far above the rest of us sinful struggling slobs while looking pityingly down their noses condemning us the whole time.

Literally just happened to people I know and care about.
