If I'm Wayne LaPierre, I would take this indictment and the Rolling Stone story as a declaration of WAR by the Democrats and Robert Mueller. If they were smart, they would get out in front and throw this down as a conspiracy by Mueller to dismantle the NRA and put our right of self defense in jeopardy.

They could say that the Deep State wants Trump out so bad that because they have nothing on him they would try to destroy his supporters. Get the membership all riled up. It's my contention that NO politician can withstand the barrage of a very agitated and pissed NRA

Don't know why the NRA was interested in Russkies and their right to Bear Arms or for that matter to Arm Bears.

Like I posted earlier though, why would the Russians waste their time trying to influence a bunch that was never going to support Hillary on her best day? Seems like a waste of resources

wouldn't this be oliver north?

anyway, the NRA has always been good at PR, so I suspect they will get a video out shortly where dana loesch says dindu nuffin, deep state, hillary clinton, pizzagate, etc, etc, etc.

I thought North had the same position that the late Charlton Heston had in that he is President, but that LaPierre is Executive Director, leading day to day activities

Does the indictment allege the NRA knew she was a Russian spy? She was supposedly a fake student

This is stemming also from a Rolling Stone article a while back that chronicles a bunch of people who went to Russia to help set up a guns rights organization and that is where they met Butina and they helped her come to the US and they allege that this Russian politician was a lackey for Putin, etc.

I'm thinking that they would have to show some serious Russian money flowing through the NRA.....but to what end? The NRA was going to support whomever was the Republican running for President

I don't think this helps the NRA case that much. We were going to push for Trump even if we didn't get Russian cash. Come on.

Gun rights are a major wedge issue and turn Republicans out to the polls. It's been one of the Russians' major plays. They court these guys, bring them over on junkets for phony Russian guns rights organizations (the Russians have minimal firearm ownership compared to the US and Putin doesn't want to change that), feed money through NRA, etc.

the complaint is only 4 pages, double spaced. should take 5 mins.

the affadavit with all the dirt is like 30 pages. eta: only 17 pages.

I generally read all the paperwork, usually some juice in them that takes a while to come out.

Is it really only 4 pages?

I always assume legal paperwork is at least 10 pages no matter how unimportant

The whole thing is silly. Unless you want to believe that without money from "Muh Russians" the NRA would have backed Hillary--AND--its members would have voted that way.

The complaint is only 4 pages. The affidavit is 17 pages.

The stuff that has been dropped so far is pretty verbose. They are clearly signaling to people that they have the receipts. Often times prosecutors hold their cards close to their chest, so they put the bare minimum in things.

This one is relatively short though, at least compared to one of the manafort filings which was like 60 pages.

So what you are saying is that absent a vigorous issue about guns, that the Republican electorate would not turn out and may actually possibly vote Hillary????? Come on.
