The organized Christian Church disagrees (at least many in my hometown).
Truth is not a matter of opinion. There is no "my truth" or "your truth"; there is only the truth.

And as others have said, modern Christianity has largely abandoned the foundations of what it is: the gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed through the holy scriptures. Basic biblical truths that children used to be catechized in aren't even understood by many preachers these days.

Religious beliefs are not the answer to defeat other religious beliefs, another handicap of the American right.
The truth of the gospel is the answer to the spiritual darkness in the world in all ages.

Our nation has turned its back on God and we aren't the chosen ones. If He allowed Israel to fall into captivity due to their corruption, what makes anyone think that He wouldn't allow our nation to learn a lesson the hard way too?

I love my country and I want to see her prosper, but until celebrated immorality and certain fundamental ills are addressed and dealt with, there is no road back for us to prosperity.

Yes, I believe your statement is correct. Unfortunately, I don't believe we have enough people of faith to overcome the evil that have become the accepted norm in our nation over the past fifty years or more. We rose higher than Rome ever dreamed and we have become more corrupt and depraved than Caligula's sickest fetish. The medicine required to overcome this illness is most definitely not going to taste good.

I don't think God paints with so broad a brush. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, not the entire country they were in. He knows who is evil and wicked, and He knows who the Christians are.

Christianity is necessary because it’s the only intellectual and moral framework we have to oppose Marxism. It presents a coherent set of values that opposes moral relativism and the crimes of the left.

Although this frosts many, it is so.

Again, the warnings have been there, even specifically for Christians for some time, but the Church has faltered in protecting itself from it.

With the psycho-babble spewed by Herbert Marcuse which he called his "theory of liberation" he was able to even draw Pope Paul VI out to state publicly that

"...it opens the way for license cloaked as liberty."

The point is that how many who attended Catholic universities - or any other propaganda mill - remember this particular quote having been thrown out for class discussion or for study to either disprove or substantiate it.

Did we see it being discussed on public tv, or heard it on public radio, or even mentioned.

Or any discussions of Marcuse and his clutch of fellow-travelers at all.

But the Pope was aware of it.

All at a time when the Church was allowing itself to be infiltrated by the most effective, destructive concept that the revisionist marxians had in their arsenal against the West - values clarification.

The brainchild of Maslow who fraternized with Marcuse.

It was introduced even into the seminaries and convents to disastrous results.

A "concept" that encourages the individual to be the sole judge of his actions and moral behavior.

Around the time that "choice" crept into the lexicon and was dwelled upon by the Left as the ultimate determinant for the lifestyle of the free individual, and which in effect attempted to validate the dysfunctional behavior that followed.

The social destruction we see now is as much of a result of what we weren't told, as what we were.

At the mercy of The Only Begotten Son of God, FM. Now what manner and degree of mercy/reward...I have no idea whatsoever. I know what I hope for. And I think I'll get it. Good enough for me.

Honest question, do you think the Eastern Orthodox Church is the only church that preaches that? It’s pretty mainstream in conservative churches of various labels.

I grew up Episcopalian

The Orthodox are more militant. And the concept of physical sacrifice, in all forms, appears to be at the top of their consciousness.

When you go to service, you stand the entire time.

I think it’s all connected.

Islam is probably part of it. Islam is a warriors religion and the Orthodox have been in constant conflict with Islam for millennia.
