If POTUS simply terminated DACA immediately with no delay, there would be no shutdown

DACA has been at the heart of every of every spending bill and CR fight for the last few months.

When you're dangling a policy priority for your political opponents, in this case a six month delay for DACA termination, don't be surprised if they can and do use it to hold the rest of the legislative agenda and government funding hostage.

GOPe wants the cheap labor and democrat wants the vote farms. DACA should've been killed with no delay at all.

Never give your opponents leverage, especially when it's something that's not very popular with your base at all and nobody there of note wants DACA.

Or if the Senate would just change the filibuster rule.

Courts would block his EO to do this before his ink from that monster pen had dried.

Stopping the President from rescinding an executive memo pertaining to enforcement policy and how it's done will never hold scrutiny at SCOTUS.

He's trying to get C-O-N-G-R-E-S-S to fix the damn problem with a change in the law. An executive order can simply be undone by another administration.

Laws should be made by Congress, not POTUS.

Cool. Except that there's no problem at all with DACA if it's done away with and nothing for Congress to fix.

They are here illegally and need to be deported. "Solving the problem" is just giving them amnesty and codifying it into law. That's the only solution dems and GOPe wants.

Cool, except that executive orders also have the force of law too.

This isn’t going to happen nor is it realistic.

One can simply be undone by another EO, one cannot. C'mon Sent, you're smarter than this. He's got those slithery bastards over a cliff by using their own arrogance and stupidity. You don't give up the only biggest leverage you have by undermining it with your own actions while at the same time making yourself out to be the bad guy at the same time.

Trump caves on DACA and he loses his base, he stands firm and he a racist bastard that hates minorities.

He does just what he did and he lets the problem lie where it's lied the entire damn time and where it should lie. One the floors of Congress. Dems have tied their wagon to 8 million people while seemingly throwing the rest of the country under the bus.

It's a no win for Dems if Trump can just get the GOP cucks in Congress to stand tall and hold the line.

As far as CR's go, frick CR's. You have a budget, I have a budget and our government should have a damn budget.

No such thing as GOP cucks standing tall. The law says that all illegals need to be gone. Morally, DACA needs to be extended until a REAL fricking immigration plan is implemented. And not a moronic wall.

How so?

The SCOTUS doesn't currently have a case before it regarding DACA does it?

He rescinded it effective in March. If the Democrats want to save the sainted DACA babies, well. They could pass a fricking law that includes a wall and eliminates chain migration so no poor souls ever end up in this situation again.

DACA is gone. The democrats can temper tantrum all they want. It ain’t coming back unless and until there’s a law.

And you wanted Luther Strange to win the senate in Alabama. You’re part of the problem.

Uh. No they don’t. The most they can do is say this is how the president interprets a law that congress passed.

It cannot extend new rights or Levy new responsibilities.

It can be overturned with the stroke of a pen.

I don’t think “force of law” means what you think it means.

And a democrat Congress can simply repeal a law this GOP congress passes.

You still don't get it.

There was nothing at all to fix when it comes to DACA when it's completely a problem unto itself that needs to be eliminated entirely.

The President should've simply terminated DACA immediately with no delay at all and not give one flying frick Congress wants to do with these illegal aliens.

The only thing he should be concentrating on is border security legislation and not giving the GOPe and dems a wedge to use with amnesty.

Ronald Reagan played this game with Tip O'Neil and he got burnt like a motherfricker after he signed California away. Donald Trump would do well to avoid that mistake .

They can't and they don't want to anyway.

What they can do is hold the government and the legislative agenda hostage and use it as leverage in CR and spending fights and that's what they're doing now.

You people still don't get it.

DACA should never ever come back in any way shape or form either by EO or law and it's a big mistake on Trump's part to be open to codifying DACA into law when he has a GOP congress that can pass border security and no amnesty.
