Sometimes I marvel at how little is known about how our system of justice works. The allegations are 40 years old. How on Earth do you think a public figure could carry the enormously high burden in a defamation lawsuit? Sure, just sue. If you're right, you'll win. Public figures are right in defamation suits all the time and they still don't win.
