Compromise….

It is a compromise choice. Johnson appears to be a head scratcher when it comes to foreign policy.

Johnson opposed the military aid package to the Ukraine yet has reliably supported continued Empire while in Congress. Johnson voted against repealing the Iraq AUMF, voted in support of continuing the unconstitutional occupation of Syria & supports the continued subsidization of NATO.

Johnson is either corrupt, or he's not. There is no in between.

I think we may have reached the end point where both sides are looking for a way out with something they can live with but we’ll see.

MAGA made clear it wasn’t Emmer. GOPe made clear it wasn’t Jordan. It wasn’t going to be another iteration of the old, unimpressive McCarthy faction like Scalise. Maybe it’s Johnson.

You make some good, rational points there, and I tend to agree on most of it.

At the same time, I honestly wouldn’t be that surprised if a space alien ended up being Speaker. I woul d put Johnson just above “space alien TBA”.

Not corrupt.

He’s slightly establishment only bc of his Republican ties dating back to college.

This job is perfect for him and I hope he wins. Would be great for LSU, great for Rs, great for conservatives and great for the country.

The reality is it doesn't matter because the new speaker will be shackled by the demands of Gaetz just like McCarthy was.

McCarthy shackled himself by making promises which he could have easy fullfilled. He was a Swamper and good riddance. No SOTH is better than a bad one.
