I’ve always thought they MUST be born that way & can’t help it because I know I was born attracted to the opposite sex & there’s no way I would ever want to be sexual with the same sex.

There are natural evolutionary reasons for that.

I firmly believe that it is not an all or nothing thing.

Some people are born that way. For some it is a product of their environment.

A lot of truth in the "if one could take a pill and become straight " argument. Of course people want to get along with the social norms.

Good!
It was her choice. She's found a live in BFF! Compared with an abusive husband, hers represents an excellent choice.

Interesting question.

I suspect that it is alot like turning 21. A certain percentage of kids will binge-drink like fiends, because they were not ALLOWED to do so previously.

Gays were the under-21s for ... well forever. Now, they have come of age. SOME of them are binge-drinking (acting out) like fiends. Give it another generation of no one really CARING that they are gay and NOT discriminating against them for it, and I suspect that most of the over-the-top acting-out at parades and such will die-down (or die-off) as just being gauche.

I guess you're technically correct but so called gay animals are not fixated on sex like homosexual humans and they're certainly not humping each other the way homosexual humans do.

Heterosexual men are just as fixated on sex, they just cannot get the women to go along.

Yeah, I think everyone is happy for her. She was the family screwup, but has settled down quite well.

Happy and at peace, can't ask much more.

But if there is no social stigma in (for example) 50 years, against WHAT would they be "rebelling?"

Just a thought.

This is a relatively compelling argument.

I find it extremely non-compelling. People make webs of choices all the time that lead them to become outcasts. People with bad dispositions weren’t born that way. I could hear them say “Why would I choose to be grumpy when I would fit in society so much better if I had a sunny disposition?”

Other obvious examples include addicts of all varieties. (There is a likely genetic component to addiction, but it is not genetic in the sense that is commonly argued with homosexuality.)

This will be kinda basic (no expert) but is thought to be developmental, possibly with multiple genes involved. Can also be from stress or medical/chemical on the mother during pregnancy. They dont really know for sure. But XY triggers production of male horomones. If at any stage of development one of the hormone surges fails, the individual can end up not fully masculinized. Physically in intersex genitals or incoplete male development of genitals, and also in the brain. Opposite can happen to females during development but is less often. This why the social grooming is alarming as ftm now outnumber mtf and combined with the rush to transition without adequate couseling/therapy is gonna be a big problem in the next few years.

Again, is relatively rare and should not see 20% of a school classroom claiming lgbt.

The social stigma will always be there. It may retreat as does racism, but it will always be present.

True. The larger issue is that humans ascribing “homosexuality” to a male dog humping another dog is asinine. Animals that might act in some setting or situation in ways that we would interpret as homosexual do not show evidence of “a range of sexual orientation” that humans pretend to have.
