If I'm going to create a story like this with no possible corroboration, I'm going to look for the most impeachable "witness" I can find.
Judge is that.
In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Judge by himself did what she now claims Kavanaugh did (albeit in front of Judge). Later, considering his friendship with Judge, she recognized Kavanaugh's vulnerability to her scurrilous charges. Her politics drove the rest.
Considering her reputation at Stanford and in partisan politics, prove me wrong.

She would do that for the same reason that any liar with the power of the MSM behind them would do.
So they can craft their narrative to muddy the waters. Something kind of like I have quoted below.

Dr. Ford is probably the epitome of an elite liberal.
With that, she likely has a positive outlook on life and individuals. In otherwords, she gives people the benefit of the doubt.
In the issue becoming relevant, she probably thought Mark Judge would tell the truth. He was urging Kavanough to "stop" at one point during the attack after all, indicating a potential for rehabilitation; and so, she mentioned him as a witness.
