I am from Bossier city where Barksdale AFB is and growing up all my friends were all Air Force kids and it was common for their to be high ranking people on B-52's . Pilots, Weapons officers etc.
I once saw a readiness exercise from off base and the sound off all the B-52;s taking off so close to each other was deafening.
If you have never watched it their is a movie with Karl Malden of the beginning of the B-52's.

That would've been incredible. I once saw six F-18s (not the Blue Angels, believe it or not) take off in rapid succession from San Diego when I was a kid, and I was within a couple hundred yards. I felt like my ears were going to bleed even with my fingers in them.
When those afterburners open up, it rattles the frickin ribcage. I can imagine the multiplied sound of all those 52 engines would be unparalleled.
As an aside, I've a cousin who is currently at Barksdale and assigned as B52 crew.

A scramble from the alert tree sure puts up a lot of smoke in the air. Was surprised how close the alert tree was to I-20.
Stationed at BAFB for about 2.5 yrs, but some of that was spent in the desert.

It was a great place to grow up. I try to get back when i can. Both my parents are gone so not as much reason now.
As a kid me and my brother would get on our roof about a 1/4 mile off base and the f-4 with full afterburner of the Thunderbirds would open their show flying low right above our house and over the crowd go straight up. It was so loud and you could almost touch the plane. Our windows would all shake

You should try and go for the Holiday In Dixie celebration in the spring usually. They have the Thunderbirds come and what a show.
