Well yeah, nothing is going to be "officially verified," because there is nothing which forces DHS to disclose anything.
Unless the attorney files a petition for review (does the Doordash guy have enough money?), Perez will be deported before DHS has to say anything about the matter.
As for the shooting investigation, DHS will just slow walk it without comment and obstruct whatever efforts Texas takes to prosecute the shooter independently.
This is the pattern established in Good, Pretti, and, more relevant for this case, the shooting of a Guatemalan man by ICE in Harris County in July. Harris County has convened a grand jury to investigate the homicide. It hasn't received co-operation from the Feds. It has sued the Feds to try to force them to turn over evidence, but that's an uphill climb.

Does it benefit the cause for people to get shot? Is this why ya'll are encouraging illegal immigrants to evade and resist arrest at all costs? Too many of your white liberal bretheran got killed in the line of duty? I guess its easier to promote propaganda when you have a corpse, just dont want it to be one of yours huh?

Who is the y'all stuff? I want all illegal aliens deported.
In terms of shooting people though, it SEEMS this particular ICE agent needed better training. Again, there certainly could be more to the incident than what we saw on video...but it's been more than 24 hours and DHS hasn't even offered an explanation of why the shooting was justified.

Here was my post from last October where I said my only problem with Trump 2.0 immigration efforts was not hiring as many immigration judges as necessary to knock out the ridiculous asylum backlog:

I never saw anyone in imminent danger from Perez's vehicle.
I saw a stationary Toyota facing the opposite way from an unmarked SUV. BEFORE the Toyota moves, you hear gunshots. The whole time you can see the front of the Toyota. No one is in front of it at any time.
ICE admits this was an "officer involved shooting." There are no claims or evidence that Perez was armed or that anyone other than ICE shot him.
You don't SEE the passenger side ICE agent exit, but there are two bullet holes in the rear passenger window of the Toyota. It's a safe inference that the passenger side ICE agent shot Perez through that back window. But...I guess it's possible that the driver both shot Perez AND ran around to the driver side of Perez's vehicle.
Here's a photo of Perez's wound in the back (seems minor?). His vehicle was never going in reverse. There is nothing shown yet to show how Perez could have been a threat to anyone.
