And I would describe BR as a city with a temp just under a boil. Smooth on top and bubbles underneath with two distinct groups of people living in close proximity. One that lives a "Set this Bitch off" lifestyle. And another group with their heads up their asses who thinks that "Set this Bitch off" is only a cool song to sing at a football game that makes them feel "cool". They'll even invite that little murderer that sings it to come sit next to them in a suite, or courtside and pretend he is a normal representation of BR. While the people in the towns and parishes all around that city just shake their heads and wait for the inevitable.

What is your response to a statement like things weren't as bad 30 years ago? And the country was moving in a better direction than today?

There has been a gradual breakdown of community over the last 30 years. I don't blame a single race for anything. There has been a societal shift toward endless consumption and consumerism that has been detrimental to American (and potentially Western) culture. Technological advances have also contributed to people becoming more isolated.

That leadership of the Dem Party, BLM, racebaiters (which includes Obama) and the development of suicidal empathy by people like yourself have set us back and not lead us forward?
You give politicians too much credit. Every day Americans aren't looking to a Congressman or political leader to tell them how to live.

The reality is that this building of friction is recent. And on purpose.

The reality is that many people who spend too much time on social media are victims of their algorithms. Social Media doesn't actually mirror reality, despite what random strangers on Twitter want you to believe.

t, in this thread you brought it up as a root cause, blaming "feral" behavior on those past actions. Saying a behavior is the result of something is the very definition of blaming that something.
I do believe that hundreds of years of systematic exclusion and discrimination limited the opportunities available to the descendants of slaves. After generations of diminished opportunities and systematic exclusion from society, I would expect the descendants of slaves to behave differently than groups who did not experience the same prolonged period of brutality and exclusion.

Are you familiar with the "feral child" found in California. Genie? She was neglected in unimaginable ways by her parents - tied to a crib, never spoken to, was deprived of stimulation. She couldn't speak when she was discovered at age 13.5. When she was fostered to a loving home, would you expect her to suddenly know how to speak and live like any other person? What about when she turned 18? Would expect her to act normally once she hit adulthood? Would you expect her offspring to have normal childhoods and for them to develop typically? What about the offspring of her offspring?

Really? I did not know they had made it to New Orleans yet.
I've seen two of them and they both were driven by actual humans. I saw one while I was in the carpool line to pick my kids up from school so I was actually relieved to see a person behind the wheel when kids and families were swarming the neighborhood at dismissal.

what happens is exactly what you did and that is to use past injustices to one to excuse the current behaviors of others.
We see cause and effect differently.

Change happens, you either embrace the change and move on or you can limit yourself by living in the past.

I just read about Reproduction Theory. It suggests that societal and cultural advantages and disadvantages are passed down or reproduced disguised as merit or unworthiness to reproduce the same classes of winners and losers.
