I offer my apologies to a lot of you conservatives. I am an independent voter. I am not fringe in any way. I am more of a centrist who sees the need for a safety net in some cases but am laissez faire when it comes to most things business related. I believe in a strong defense with the desire to get out of other countries when it no longer serves our national interests. I am also a social moderate. Wanna be gay and get married? Enjoy gay marriage. Just don't expect special privileges for it. Wanna do shite that's dangerous to society? Go to a shithole country to do that and see how they treat you. Anyways, I voted 3rd party in the last election (Libertarian). I thought I was doing the right thing. I was not.

In the past, I've had a lot of faith in humanity. I like to believe that most people can set down their fears and rise to the challenge when called on but alas, they cannot. I used to hate terms like "people are stupid", "people are afraid" and terms like "sheeple" but I am convinced beyond any doubt that these are a propos to most people of today (we're talking somewhere around 80% AT LEAST). Not just in America but all over the world.

Thank God Donald Trump is our President. He is a real man and not a politician. He is the only politician I have ever witnessed who does not talk down to his constituents. He certainly talks down to other politicians and the media which is desirable and to be celebrated. The media really is America's enemy more than anyone else right now. He is the only President (since the Honorable President Reagan) to treat us veterans properly and with respect. Barack Hussein and Bill Clinton absolutely hated the military.

I could personally do without religion in politics but I honestly find it mostly irrevelant. These folks (Evangelicals) mean no harm. I don't agree with them in terms of religion but I see we pretty much have the same desires. A good life without intruding on others mostly.

99% of Democrats/Liberals/Labor should not be in any leadership position whatsoever. They are harmful to the human race. They have offered nothing to this country for some time now. They are terrible, despicable and deplorable people. They should be locked up. I mean that with all seriousness.

Not many conservatives left outside of actual government. Most everyone is moving toward either libertarian-nationalism or outright mercantilist ethno-nationalism. The only conservatives left are boomers who hang on Rush Limbaugh's every word.

I'm sure said groups will take your apology though.

With the electoral college it really doesn't matter in La. We are never a swing state. If you're from Colorado it's more important to make your vote count.

Trump is FAR from a Conservative, but I get your point.

I stated years ago I didn't vote for him in 2016 but will in 2020.

I’m libertarian too but you gotta vote for the dog that can win the fight. Obviously Trump is waaaay closer to what I want/believe. You can’t honestly care about friends or family and actually vote Democrat. Alas, those fuqs would elect a ham sandwich to keep the Orange man away from their socialism

I tend to agree. But, most conservatives got this one right in 2016. They voted for the right man. Also, many independents did the same though I did not.

I will vote for him this year and will compare all politicians to him going forward. Those whose spirit is most like his in any contest will almost certainly get my vote.

Yeah I voted 3rd party in 2012 and 2016

2020 = Trump all the way

I still don't trust either side, but DJT is much better than any Democrat or Republican.

I'm nervous about 2024 and beyond though

I don't know what the national statistics were but among people I knew there was a gender difference in 2016.
All the guys I know are conservative and all the women are totally disinterested. But in 2016 the men told me: 'I guess I have to vote for Trump. At least he's not Hillary.'
The women told me: 'I don't usually bother voting. But I'M VOTING FOR TRUMP AND SO ARE MY FRIENDS!'

NOBODY "hangs on his every word".

He merely came along and said what we had already been thinking for a couple of decades.

Why are people so stupid about getting that?

But he had the balls to say it. No one else did. We were all thinking it? Maybe but no politicians said it. Thank God, the Honorable President Trump is not a politician but a leader.

In my neck of the woods it was a bit different.

Dudes were low key about their support of Trump but all of them voted for him.

Their wives were all anti-Trump. Not pro Hillary by any means, but they thought he was a jerk.

This carried to Beto and Cruz unfortunately. “Beto was just so positive!”

I was third party (Castle) in 2016. It’s moved all the way to Trump 2020 here and my wife absolutely gets it and agrees this time. She’s fairly disinterested in politics but cares about social issues a lot. She also thinks these progressives saying things like “billionaires shouldn’t exist or free college for all are insane and petty jealous people.

A lot of women that trashed Trump and loved Beto are pretty damn quiet this year because they’re not willing to defend a creepy guy with dimentia.

Elections don't actually matter, you all realize this right?

I suspect Louisianians, whose state is the ONLY deep south state governed by a Democrat would disagree in light of the fact that every state surrounding us opened up their state 2-3 weeks ago while we are just being allowed to enjoy our "freedom" (in small doses) today.
