Russ Baker's book Family of Secrets

Excellent book. Glad to run across someone else who’s read it. It’s a dense read but it sure details the lineage of the deep state quite well.

That got us Reagan who we thought was fixing stuff, but it was just a bandaid and he made some stupid mistakes like with amnesty.

Reagan wasn't perfect, but he was better than any other president in my lifetime.

He got the top tax rate lowered from 70% when he first took office to 28% after he left. And that was without a Republican majority in either the House or the Senate the entire 8 years he was in office.

He also starved out the Soviet Union, which was unquestionably the biggest threat to the US in the 20th century. Far more of a threat than Nazi Germany.

Yeah, he shouldn't have granted amnesty. And he started the trend of huge federal overspending (although part of that was the cost of defeating the USSR in the Cold War).

So not perfect.

But probably as close to perfect as we'll ever see in any of our lifetimes again.

I had a couple of Marines freak out about why we were there while we were there which is CRAZY. I had to calm one guy down and he was higher rank than me. War is hell for real. No need to thank me I knew what I signed up for I was fulfilling my obligation.
