Vaccinated twice after having covid. Covid was nothing and so was the vax. Running the Turkey day 5 mile race tomorrow at 61 years old.

I always get a kick out of people who think they're a hero or a tough guy for refusing a simple vaccine.

Vaccines are not simple by any measure.

This the mRNA gene therapy free thread. I have no idea where the pronouns thread would be.

Maybe not simple in the research that goes into developing them.
I think they're simple in how they work -- they train your immune system to recognize a pathogen so it's ready and can fight it off so you don't get very sick or even sick at all.
They also help protect a community - as long as everyone else is vaxed.
The first vaccine for smallpox was simply scratching cowpox virus from blisters on cows into human skin. And it was mandated in George Washington's troops at Valley Forge, and may have contributed to them prevailing in the battle. So I think it's fair to say vaccines are simple at least in how they work.
I think it's pretty sad when someone says "I got vaccinated twice, then I got Covid, so the vaccine doesn't work." Too many people seem to think a vaccine either works or doesn't work at all, and that's just not how it goes. You never heard anything from millions of vaxed people who were exposed and didn't get sick because there's no way to track that. But vaccinated people who do get it don't feel sick for long and don't wind up in the hospital. About 25-30% of the population isn't vaccinated for this thing, and their refusal cost probably about 250,000 unnecessary deaths from Covid. If 99% of us were vaxed, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation, and in time, it would become like polio -- pretty much under control, except among pockets of people who get it because they won't vax their children. I remember when I was 1st grade the nurses came in to school and vaxed us all for whooping cough. There wasn't all this stupid banter among our parents about how it was about tyranny versus freedom, or that it was poison, or some government experiment. They were saving lives.
The idea that the vaccine is part of some global scam to control people, or diminish the population, or that the vaccine is poison, or any of that stuff just isn't true. It's silly. Look at the people on this thread calling themselves "purebloods" and taking pride in the fact they aren't vaccinated for a disease that killed over a million Americans in just two years, from every walk of life - even celebrities, and radio talk hosts who told you not to get vaccinated. It could be so simple, this whole thing, and their bad choices just dragged it out forever, all because people saw an angle in politicizing a pandemic.
