I think he does have a point, I don’t see the need for civilian access to tactical type weapons being something we need to protect

I think tactical type weapons should be commercially available but at a much higher standard for procurement than conventional hunting rifles

This is a laughable statement. Even if you include all forms of rifles, it wouldn't top a thousand innocent kills within the borders of the United States the last 3 or 4 years.

don't go pulling your stupid alt right about them being semi automatic weapons like the NRA has instructed you to do. we know they are easily modified to be automatic machine guns with military capabilities.

I'm no fan of the NRA, but the idea that they a) are catering to the Alt-Right and b) are instructing people how to make fully automatic firearms is again hilarious. Please provide any sort of documentation.

As far as OP, Chipper voiced his opinion. I disagree with him, and wouldn't mind having a good natured debate, but it's not going to really alter my previously held opinion on him one way or the other.

Then why even make them? Why not simply go to war with bolt-action rifles?

100 soldiers with bolt action hunting rifles vs 100 soldiers with AR 15s

You saying it's a toss up?

Chipper is stupid, but his opinion on this is completely valid.

Why does this make you so mad? This dude can’t have an opinion? I am not sure who is worse. The people who want all guns banned or you who thinks the government is going to break down your door and take your shite.

Every time someone says they don't see a "need" for me owning something, I wonder why they think that's an argument?

99.9% of the shite I own I don't "need".

The same can be said for most people.

"Need" isn't a standard for banning something.

Without even realizing it, Larry Chip just made the case for EXACTLY WHY civilians should have access to said weapons.

Considering his current career is co-hosting a hunting TV show that appeals to an audience that is almost completely pro-gun, I imagine his agent's reaction to hearing this had to be
