And indeed that happened. The Justice Department’s criminal division said it probed the conversation as a possible violation of campaign finance laws, wondering if Mr. Trump had solicited a contribution of sorts by asking Ukraine to probe an opponent. The department said it concluded that wasn’t the case. The review came in late August when intelligence officials referred the matter to the Justice Department’s criminal division to see if the president’s comments violated laws barring candidates requesting assistance from foreign sources.

It would be pretty crazy to find out that Biden ran knowing that the new president of Ukraine would expose him, so he got in the mix to ensure that impeachment talk was on the table if Trump tried to pursue it.

Zelensky won on 4/21

Biden announced on 4/25

Why is his personal attorney going to be contacting Ukraine?

Because the FBI and U.S. Ambassador (now fired) blocked all criminal information from Ukraine to the U.S. Giuliani was/is working as an alternative conduit as requested by the State Department.

Some Dems are trying to claim Trump asked for something "of value" dealing with an election. That would breach legality.

The amazing part of all this is that Joe Biden brags publicly and is on video about doing the exact same thing the Dems falsely accuse Trump of but crickets concerning Biden.

Man, if this caused Biden to drop out and busted open the Russia conspiracy as a complete setup by Obama and the IC, it would be the biggest political win in history.

I think this is what we are witnessing. Can’t wait to see the Whistleblowers complaint. If the complaint states the call had a quid pro quo or other nefarious but untrue allegations, we can assume the whistleblower was lied to and setup.

Earlier in the transcript he mentions reciprocity a few times

Where?

Why is his personal attorney going to be contacting Ukraine? Also there are documents and briefing materials for both parties leading up to the call that may shed more light...they don’t just randomly get on the horn.

I don't know what the deal is with Guliani

William Jefferson Clinton signed a legal cooperation treaty with Ukraine in 1999.

He mentions that the US/Ukraine relationship hasn’t been reciprocal.

You understand that simply saying the word "reciprocal" doesn't mean that he's asking for some sort of nefarious reciprocity (QPQ), right? Context is pretty important.

He mentioned it only once, in the context that the prior administration in the Ukraine didn't always reciprocate a wholesome relationship with the US.

People need to remember that Rudy is the personal attorney to the POTUS for matters of the presidency. Liberals need to stop conflating Rudy with an attorney that might handle Trump's business or family law affairs. That's not Rudy's role.

The call is nothing. We have several dem senators on record pressuring Ukraine to cooperate with Mueller or face consequences. We have Biden on video threatening aid to get heat off of his son. We have the Ukrainian embassy on record stating that a Hillary campaign staffer was seeking dirt on Trump from them during the campaign. We've got Downer, we have Misfud, I could go on...

If those things weren't issues, how is this an issue?

Because I'm not sorting through a treaty to figure out whatever point you're trying to make (which is??)

It also sounds like he's asking the guy to investigate the Biden situation. Again, is this legal?

Disagree. The way I read it is he was going to have Barr and Rudy discuss it with Zelenskyy

I think the point is that we have a cooperation agreement with the Ukraine or law-enforcement issues.

Point being we have a treaty for cooperating in legal matters.

Signed by William Jefferson Clinton.

Ah.

I'd be interested to see how this falls within that treaty.

The transcript shows no QPQ going on. It can be implied that there were based on the funds being held up for no reason.

The other problem is Giuiliani. Besides his reckless mouth, he works for the President. He is his personal lawyer. He does not represent the interests of the United States.

So why send your personal Lawyer to do all this ‘let’s make sure no corruption is going on’ work. Rudy is doing the same work Michael cohen was doing essentially, but for a shorter period of time. The reason he is so unhinged is because he is in the middle of shite he shouldn’t be in the middle of.

If this were truly about the interests of the U.S., Barr should be the one going over there, and he has already said he doesn’t know or didn’t know anything about anything

Sounds like two world leaders discussing mutual interests for their governments.
