You actually believe we'll have a fair election?

Oh another politician that isn’t an outsider like Trump….no thanks, I learned my lesson long ago.

Oh, and by baggage, you just mean you can enjoy Desantis a little more because the bad guys (media/deep state) will never go after anyone like they did Trump, because he was exposing their corruption.

Well, I thought we like Desantis precisely because he will make extreme efforts to go after them like Trump did. I do suspect that is indeed his mantra, if he genuinely believes he could win. Same recipe as Trump. Thus he would receive the same style of warfare against him as with Trump, maybe even worse. Completely manufactured "baggage". Yeah, the Left is in possession of what they believe is the strongest gameplan ever (the exact one used against Trump), and they definitely aren't gonna keep it in their pocket. Again, if anything it will be even worse/nastier.

The best part about Desantis unlike Trump he does not take to Twitter on go on a tirade he simple calls a press conference with all media and simply states the facts and then the liberal media runs for cover(like usual). Difference between Trump and Desantis is that Desantis knows how to play the game Trump didn't. I know several people that voted for Biden in this past election that said they would 100 percent vote for Desantis if he ran for president. Desantis 2024

DeSantis sure does have great curb appeal. No lie.

I'm torn. I know that the Left won't let up on him just because he's a 'legit' politician. Unlike Trump. It doesn't matter to them... they'll switch their talking points who ever gets the nominee.

No political experience ? - Grifter

Political experience ? - Establishment

Trump deserves to get back in the WH, but if it's the POLICIES we care more about, I gotta give the nod to DeSantis.

It shouldn't be about who's deserving, it should be about who's the best potential candidate that closely matches your ideology is also best capable of winning the election.

Winners make policy. Losers go home and are forced to live with said policy.

Thus you have be real careful about who your nominee is and who would be the best asset to your cause regardless of whether or not they deserve it.

DeSantis is a pro-Israel whore. And he always pretends his COVID policies were looser than they actually were, as I can tell you from living in Florida myself.

I would prefer somebody else for 2024.

Some of you jew haters are funny, even if I'm not as enamored with Israel as the American right is.

I don’t know who will run in 2024 yet, let alone how much I’ll like them. It’s just hard for me to imagine that De Santis would be my favorite.

In 'normal ' times, I'd fully agree. But Trump was absolutely railroaded, and unfairly.

We need to ensure that winners actually win fairly, and not as a result of fake impeachments, fraudulent claims of foreign collusion, or outright election tampering.

That's what I mean when I say Trump DESERVES to be back in the WH. Not saying it because I'm some Trump fanboy ( I'm not ) but because I still believe those who win should be awarded the fruits of victory.

Well, I'm fully aware of the lies the Left and MSM ( one in the same ) will conjure up with Trump, but let's be real... they'll lie about anyone, say anything, and even DO anything to win an election.

DeSantis and Trump, on many of the big ticket items, are easily in sync with one another, thus making it easy to vote for either.

I guess my main issues are
1. Pushing forward with an America 1st Agenda. I think both would do that exceedingly well.

1. B - I want pay back. Hard line , unflinching and flag waving payback to the ones who wronged not just Trump, but America as a whole.

Trump would be far more motivated than DeSantis at fighting that battle.

DeSantis isn't running yet, either.

Very likely that you know tonight every single person that will show up on a ballot. Who would you rather have than DeSantis from the Right?

I'm not giving you shite. I'm simply curious who you'd prefer.

Plus, there's the rather significant fact that Trump's enjoying a fairly healthy lead amongst likely Republican voters, so says the polling I've seen anyway. Last I saw, amongst that group, approx 50% "likely" or "definitely" would vote for Trump, with Desantis in second place with approx 35% likely or definitely would vote for him.

Of course different folks have different thoughts on polls, generally speaking, I do understand that.

I hate to say this but life is not fair and sometimes you're dealt a shite hand and you have to live with it.

This is correct.

But even then, you still have the responsibility of running the best candidate closest to your ideology that you think is best capable of winning the election, not who you think "deserves" it.

If you think Trump is still that guy, then by all means, go ahead and vote for him.

But if you think Trump is no longer that guy and it's DeSantis or someone else, vote accordingly.

Party nominations are not a favor you owe to a friend. They're a decision as to who is best capable of being the standard bearer for the party.

You have a balancing test here.

What matters more to you? A revenge tour with a specific candidate or making sure the best possible candidate closest to your ideology is the nominee.

That's a question you will have to figure out and it requires a calm and rational thought process.

I've calmly and rationally thought about it.....for me Trump checks both boxes. Win win.

But in the spirit of that same rationality, I would note that I reserve the right to revise my position should circumstances dictate such.

Like DeSantis winning Florida by a landslide margin next year?

Like 4-10 points?

I don't think that alone would move me off Trump, but of course it would indeed be noteworthy. But I don't think that would necessarily be a shocking event given Desantis' current standing in Florida. Aside from that, there's plenty potential for all sorts of things to happen between now and go time. Good things and/or bad things for either gentleman.
