This just seems like one of those good ideas until the dems inevitably end up doing this when they're in charge and then we all regret it.

So they are ok with giving Trump total control over the government funding system? They are some limp betas if that’s their “compromise.”
Congress has already ceded too much to the Executive Branch.

Gumbo, I know ur a reasonable poster and I agrre with you 99% of the time, but what you describe sounds too good to be true.
Congreas is willing to allow to cut "whatever" he chooses???

Solomon was just describing the general framework to get the HFC onboard. I’m sure the big spenders would never allow Trump to cut “everything” or whatever he chooses. It may be whatever he chooses up to a point.

That's fine until we get another obama as president. Which we will sooner or later.

Your concern is that it would give a democrat president the ability to not spend appropriated funds?
I'm as worried about that as I am a democrat president having the authority to ban abortions.
How is this not a good idea if you want spending cuts? Not only can Congress reduce spending, but the President can as well. I fail to see how having more options to reduce spending is a bad thing for the people constantly saying we need to reduce spending.
If a democrat president wants to cut spending and take the political heat, then let him.
