Until now, construction companies could bring those workers in illegally, and use their illegal status against them to lever lower wages, longer hours, and poorer conditions.
I think you would be surprised at what they are paying hispanic construction workers. They arent making significantly low wages. They are lacking insurance and benefits though.
In entry level positions they make as much or more (they usually bring skill) but in higher positions they are paid less.

Because they pay like shite right now because the pay rate is for slave labor immigrants instead of actual good paying jobs for American citizens.
Eventually this will correct itself once Trump gets out all of the illegals.
Bingo. It's never been a matter of "Americans won't do the work the illegals do," but rather "Americans won't do the work for the same damned-near slave wages that the illegals have to this point."
Huge difference.

And yet, no link to any study.
Surely, the media wouldn't make that up?

It is easy to make a statement, a little harder to back it up.
In other words, I call b.s. on this one.

There are approx 13 million mfg jobs in the USA right now. Good luck hiring more white or black folks, they arent going to do it. Everyone is working that will work.
Without welfare they will do those jobs.
Or get shot breaking into my house or business.
Hunger is the greatest motivator. There is zero reason for someone 18-65 to not have a job.
If they weren't receiving a government handout and had a job they would be paying taxes instead of using MY tax money. We would turn takers into payers.
People without jobs should be ostracized and belittled every single day. There is this guy who stands on McFarland Blvd everyday with this little sign that says "will work for food". There is a sign 40' behind him from the new Aldi that says "now hiring". He doesnt want work, he wants a handout.

They have the black market to fall back on.
Two things that will never go away. Welfare and the black market. Next in line is gig work.
Then they may look at getting a real job after expiring those options.

As long as someone makes their own way without govt help, I dont care if they work or not. But yes, the prevailing opinion among the masses is that work is for suckers, and avoid it at all cost.

There are hundreds of thousands of Constuction jobs available where you work with your hands.
If you’re not already an accomplished construction worker with certs stacked on certs, most of those jobs aren’t available to you. You’ll be lucky to find something making $10/hr working 70+ hrs/week as a helper with no benefits.

This isnt true everywhere. Maybe in Louisiana, but we have a shortage of apprentices in this state.
Instead of student loans you get paid and when you become a journeyman you'll make middle class wages.
The mines pay an average of 110k here, no skill as they train through a local university, and they still have shortages.
People dont want to work.

You live in Alaska. They have unique logistical challenges attracting talent due to the fact that Alaska is literally 500 miles away from the nearest state. Alaskan industries have always suffered manpower shortages and had to offer substantially higher wages to entice would-be workers to relocate thousands of miles to live in extreme conditions.
I don’t believe your experiences reflect reality for most Americans.

You would know. I’m sure you’ve done both.

Then why are a million construction workers needed before the end of 2026?
All y'all are doing is making excuses for people staying in the same place, living on welfare.

I’m sure you’ve done both.
Ive never done assembly line work. I'm hyper, that would fricking kill me with boredom.
Standing in one spot loading sheet metal into a press every 30 seconds is my idea of pure hell.

Because those stats are largely made up to justify hiring H1B’s. The trade shortage isn’t real. Crews aren’t interested in hiring the baws that are looking for work. Those companies are employing illegals and paying them WAY less than any American would reasonably accept.
Source: I have worked both as a construction worker AND on an assembly line in a factory.
